Updates for league admins, new HTML/UBB/text generator for PPVs
I implemented a few changes today while getting ready for SummerSlam (and did quite a bit during the show too..).
First off, for league admins, you can now enter your website in the admin page. This link will show up both on your league homepage (the one your league members see when they click Leagues on the left) and also on your league's public page (the page the public can see). I want the people running the leagues to get as much out of using the site as possible, and giving links to the league's community helps just a little bit. (also note that if you're a league admin, you can freely post blogs on the site that include a link back to your site at the end)
The second thing I built today was a feature that lets you get the output from any PPV at the site in a convenient format. I saw /wooo/ members posting their predictions in their discussion thread for the PPV - and I am very often posting the prediction game on other forums - so this was something I figured would get a lot of good use. When you view a PPV (ie, www.fourdown.org/WWE_SummerSlam_2008), there's a link near the top that says "If you'd like to post this prediction game at another site, in either HTML, UBB, or plain-text format, click here."
Clicking on that will pop open a window. The first three things you'll see are three text area fields. Each has a diferent format. The first is HTML - which you can post on some forums (but not many). you can post on your own website (including a link back, please), or you can post on your WWE Fan Nation page. The second is UBB - which most forums these days use for formatting. The last is plain text - which may be the only option at some forums. You can also choose which items to include in the text - just play around with that, it should be self-explanatory.
At some point I'll add in the user/league rankings as well, so that league admins can easily post scores to forums.
I'm also pleased to announce I passed the Adobe Certified Expert exam for ColdFusion 8 on Friday. Wooo!

Glad that you like it. :) The HTML/UBB format stuff I hope will open things up a lot more to people who are part of a league that has their own forums. It's simple to just copy/paste your predictions now in a standard format, so sharing them and discussing them should be a lot easier. I'll probably do something similar soon for the top-rated wrestlers so people can share their top 5 and show the overall and league top 5 for the previous week on other sites. 8/18/08 1:32 PM |
