4-UP Fantasy Sports Entertainment Game Screenshots & Info

I got two teeth yanked at the dentist today, so I'm gonna be working pretty much all weekend on 4-UP, the fantasy sports entertainment game that I'm hoping to launch in a week or so.

Figured I'd go ahead and post up a couple of new screenshots so everyone can see the basic interface.


This is the interface for picking your rosters.  Remember, you'll be picking two weeks' worth of rosters at once almost all of the time - the only cases where you'd only be doing one week is when Smackdown isn't taped 2 weeks in advance.  That seems to be a pretty rare thing these days.  So anyway, you can see that your rosters will always be 10 wrestlers.  I'm likely going to change it slightly, so that you pick only 2 undercard wrestlers, and change the Upper Midcard to 2 choices.  The little magnifying glass icon next to each spot will pop up a quick "stats & info" window for the selected wrestler.  (it doesn't do anything unless you've selected a wrestler, though)  You can see what that pop up looks like in the third screenshot.  I'll explain that when I get to it.

You can also see the Data Administrator link in the top-right.  That'll only appear for people who are helping enter the data for each show.  What's going to end up being there for everyone is a link that'll take you to a page where you can view all the details for all the weeks of the game up to that point.  You'll be able to see your rosters from every week in the season (and past seasons, too, once we get that far) and exactly what you earned points for from each guy on your roster.  That's really the only section I've got left to build.


So on the first screenshot, you can see that that's for picking your rosters for the weeks of April 19th and the 26th.  But lets say it's not April 13th yet - that's the first day you'd be able to make your roster picks for the weeks of April 19th and the 26th.  Well, if it's April 12th, you might see what's above - because it'll still show you your last picked rosters until the day for picking your next rosters comes along.  So in the screenshot above, both of the previous two weeks have already been scored, so it gives you a quick view of the points you earned per wrestler and your total points for that week.  This isn't the more detailed view that I'm currently building, where you can see exactly how the scoring happened - this is just a quick look.  And what I'll probably be adding to the site along with the launch of 4-UP is a new module that appears at the bottom of every page (except the homepage) - the module will be a quick view that shows you your current scores and rankings for both 4-UP and in the regular prediction game season.

So here's that "stats & info" pop up I was talking about earlier.  To explain all the info it's showing, let's go piece-by-piece.

The title bar shows you the name of the wrestler.

Under that, there is a drop-down containing all of the weeks of the current season of 4-UP.  You can browse to any previous date of the game.  The text next to it, "Added to roster..", tells you when you added this wrestler to your roster for the selected week.  (if it's a wrestler you didn't choose for your roster that week, it'll let you know)

Under that, there's the left box - first, shows you the category of that wrestler.  In this case, midcard.  It's showing it here because once there have been more than one season, you'll be able to still get info from this window for previous seasons - and wrestlers will move between categories from season to season.  So this'll let you know what category that wrestler was during the selected week.  Under that, you see a number, with "USP EARNED" under it.  USP = User Season Points, which means how many points you've earned with this wrestler for the season.  (or previous season, if you've chosen a date from an earlier season)  Then you see "On Roster" - this is how many times you added that wrestler to your roster during that season.  WSP = Wrestler Season Points, which is the amount of points that wrestler has earned during the season (which you wouldn't have earned yourself unless you'd chosen him/her every week).

The box on the right is the recent history for the wrestler.  Shows the previous 4 weeks, that wrestler's USP/WSP for each week, and what percentage of the players chose that wrestler for their roster that week.

The bottom part contains some controls.  The left/right arrows allow you to browse the entire list of wrestlers that are available in the fantasy game.  The double arrows browse the full list of wrestlers, while the single arrows will only browse in that wrestler's category.  The link in the middle, "Apply Date to All Stats Displayed," will change the way the data in the left/right boxes is handled.  When you first acceess the pop up, the data is shown for the entire season - such as if you are viewing on Apr 5th or Apr 12th, the USP in the left box will be the same number - the complete total USP you've earned over that season.  If you click the "Apply Date.." link, that number would only be the total you'd earned up until the date selected.  And the weeks listed on the right would be the previous 4 from the date selected, as opposed to the latest 4 weeks in that season. It'll also only show how many times you had picked that wrestler for your roster UP TO that date.

Hopefully it still sounds cool to everyone after seeing this stuff!  I'm really excited about it and am really trying to cover all bases when it comes to giving players access to as much data as possible so nothing is left out.   Some of it may look complicated at first, but when it comes right down to it, this is a pretty simple game and you really don't have to look at anything but your current score and rank - everything else is just there if you REALLY want to try and turn this into a strategy game. :)
