Night of Champions (2012) results comments

So, I haven't wrote a blog in a while, but figured I'd write one now. It's been a long time since I had a good result for a WWE PPV. Infact since I joined this site, I've only had 5 results under #100: Elimination Chamber 2011 (my first and best one thus far of #8), Hell in a Cell 2011, Survivor Series 2011, TLC 2011, and now tonight's PPV NOC.

I had only lost points in small side questions and in Cena vs Punk (more about that later). But for the other matches that didn't get thrown out, I did predict the winner properly. But here were a few of my mistakes, not including interference calls:

First, I did want to point out that had the match for the Diva's Championship been announced the way it was originally hoped with Eve challenging, I would have most likely gone with Eve and match that as well, which would have also given me 5 points for number of title changes. Oh well.

When it came to the IC belt match, Sin Cara seemed like the most likely to "lose" the match. I'm very surprised they went with Cody being pinned, but it does make me wonder if there's going to be more to this story.

For the tag belts, it was hard to say who was going to be pinned, but it seemed more likely that Kane was going to once again layout Daniel Bryan and he'd once again get the pin to win. But it looks like they went with the idea that they now each have a victory thanks to each other's frustrations. I just couldn't picture Daniel Bryan putting Kane in his place.

I still figured Sheamus would keep the belt, but was not expecting the reversal of the "No Brogue Kick" rule that night. A submission victory for him seemed very likely, until this happened. Oh well.

As for the WWE Championship match, I knew that a clean win over John Cena was not going to happen, but I also didn't think Cena was going to walk away champion. So I put two and two together and made what I figured would be the obvious choice of a DQ win for Cena. As soon as I saw the top rope German suplex/back suplex with the not so great bridge, I knew a double pin was happening.

I didn't see THAT coming, but again, my general prediction of a not clean and not contraversial free ending happening with Punk retaining? That came true. Just not in the realm of keeping points.
