SummerSlam 2012 Prediction and Analysis

Hey everyone here are my predictions for SummerSlam 2012.

The United States Championship Match
Santino Marella© vs. Antonio Cesaro

Santino’s Stats
- Regular Win/Loss, 122/247: 49%
- PPV Win/Loss, 12/25: 48%

Antonio’s Stats
- Regular Win/Loss, 13/20: 65%
- PPV Win/Loss, 12/24: 50%

Analysis: This should be an interesting matchup for the pre-show of SummerSlam. Santino is the current United States Champion, which is okay I guess. I understand that Santino is a mid-card wrestler, and there for he should only be holding a mid-card championship. Which is fine, however his title reign has really done nothing for me. I’m not a huge fan of Santino’s so that easily factors in, but while being totally unbiased, his reign has been boring. Not to mention the way they booked Santino against Antonio for a few weeks, having the champ loose. In my opinion the champ, should never lose a non-title match (except Tag Team Champs). Then you take a look at Antonio Cesaro, Santino’s opponent. I understand the guy is talented and could be a future world champion. But there is something about him that I don’t like. For one his entrance music throws everything off, but something else just bothers me and I’m not a big fan of him. Not to mention I would rather see someone like Ted Dibiase Jr. facing Santino for the championship, I would have to say despite my dislike of Antonio, Santino has had the title to long, and I would like to see Antonio win.

The Tag Team Championship Match

Analysis: Let me first start out by saying that this should be a highly entertaining match. I really am pleased with what the WWE has been doing with the tag team division as of late. As far as the winners of this match up, it could really be a toss-up either way. I think PTP has a lot of potential, but it almost feels like there push has been hindered by the firing of AW. This could easily cost them this match. However K/R haven’t really been overly entertaining with the titles to me, even though I like both team members when there not together.

The Intercontinental Championship Match
The Miz© vs. Rey Mysterio

The Miz

Rey Mysterio

Analysis: This should be an entertaining match up (Well not for me, I only read in depth coverage and results of PPV). The Miz is highly entertaining, especially as a champion. And I can say the same for Rey Mysterio, except for when he is a world champion. Both guys have a lot of talent, and both men deserve the Intercontinental Championship. However the decision on who should win comes down to what is best for business. If you have The Miz win, you’re showing appreciation to a talented, young star. If you have Mysterio win, you’re letting the cash cow, fan favorite win. Who’s it going to be?

Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler

Analysis: Wow what a clash this match should be. You have the past vs. the future, Jericho vs. Ziggler. This match could and should steal the show. Both guys are incredible talents, but of course I’m a bigger fan of Jericho then Ziggler. However with Ziggler on his way out of the company (At least that is what the rumor is), will Ziggler pull of the victory? I really enjoy watching Ziggler in the ring, and his mic skills have improved since last year. However who doesn’t love hearing Jericho shout, “Would you please shut the hell up!”

Daniel Bryan vs. Kane

Analysis: Let me make this short and sweet. Kane will not benefit in any way from winning this match. However if Daniel Bryan losses, it just makes him look weak. But for some reason I feel like Kane will win and that angers me.

The World Heavyweight Championship Match

Analysis: Let me start off by saying that I’m sick of Sheamus. This title reign started off pretty well despite his eight second win. And his first two defenses were fun and entertaining. But since then I have hated it. I believe he has gotten stale and I just don’t like him. On the other hand I absolutely hate ADR. I think he sucks on the mic, but he performs okay in the ring. But with a lack of mic skills really hurts him. But like I said Sheamus has gotten stale.

The WWE Championship Match
CM Punk© vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show

Analysis: Okay CM Punk has by far had the best title reign in the last two years. CM Punk has had memorable matches with multiple wrestlers and I have loved pretty much all of them. Not to mention I’m just a huge fan of CM Punk. But however I’m a bigger Cena fan. I started watching wrestling when Cena was feuding with Wade Barrett and The Nexus. And I credit my love for wrestling to John Cena firstly then Wade Barrett. So that is why I’m such a Cena fan, despite what anyone else thinks of him he is great. But what about The Big Show? Since TBS turned heel I started to like him, he was much more entertaining. But a lot of people are counting him out of this match… but not me! Honestly a victory from TBS would change things up a bit!

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar

Analysis: We have honestly had this feud shoved down our throats, but for once I’m okay with it. Paul Haymen to me was actually entertaining in the first few weeks of this feud between H and Lesnar, however many would disagree. But just like Rey vs. Miz this match comes down to what is best for business. Both of these men are part timers. Brock is being paid a shit ton of money to appear at some events and have a match at a few PPV’s. And obviously will have a match at WM 29. Triple H is the COO of the company (Is that just keyfabe?), and a company legend. Not to mention he is a part of the McMahon family, which automatically might give him a win. However since Lesnar has come back, despite his ass kicking style he has seemed weak. And the fact that he lost at Extreme Rules, I think really hurt his character. So before they bury him anymore, Brock should pull out the win in this match.
