Top 10 Worst WrestleMania Matches

I was going to save this for my own website one day but since WrestleMania 25 is almost here I thought I should debut it here at fourdown.  I may make it more detailed eventually but for now since I can embed YouTube videos I figured it'd be fun to take a trip back to some awful times.

#10. Matches Shouldn't End by Count-Out at WrestleMania!

A disqualification I can live with, if it's a pretty violent one.  Cause hey, these guys are supposed to be mad at each other getting prepared to fight at the biggest show of the year!  But count-out?  Talk about a let down both for PPV viewers and the live audience!

Here is a list of all matches in WrestleMania history that have ended by count-out:

- WM3: Billy Jack Haynes and Hercules, double countout.

#9. WrestleMania 24:  Batista vs Umaga

This was the "battle for brand supremacy" and with a match like this, you'd think ECW came out on top.  On paper (and without knowing how poor the build was) it looks like it'd be a great brawl.  It turned out to be one of the most boring matches in recent WrestleMania history.  Whether Batista was upset that he was "merely" in this match caused this match to not have the energy it should have or not, who cares?  Let's just forget this match ever happened.

#8. WrestleMania 12:  Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart (c), Iron Man Match

Want to know what makes my top 10 worst moments list the best one?  Because I've got the balls to put this match on my list.  Bret Hart did everything in his power to make this match a stinker.  There were a few shining moments, but considering this match went for 60 minutes - it didn't help it much!  Yes, it was an awesome moment when HBK finally got the gold, but I'd love to know how many people watching on PPV actually sat through the entire match without leaving to do something in the middle.  The video I'm attaching looks to be just highlights, so don't judge the match based only on a few hand-selected moments.

#7.  WrestleMania 13:  The Sultan vs Rocky Maivia (c)

I don't have much to say about this one.  The match itself was a stinker but of course the real story was the crowd hating on The Rock.  And this was for the IC title.  Luckily, good things came out of the crowd hating Rock, but this match itself is one of the worst to watch!

#6.  WrestleMania 17:  The Iron Sheik wins the Gimmick Battle Royale

Think of this one more of a worst MOMENT.  The match itself was fun and was okay for what it was, but Iron Sheik winning?  He didn't deserve the win but by virtue of being too stiff to take a bump over the top rope, he picks up the win.

#5.  WrestleMania 23:  The Great Khali vs Kane

I debated using this one or Undertaker/Giant Gonzales, but decided this one since it's more recent.  And hey, it sucked pretty bad.  Not much to say about it, seeing Khali in the match says enough.

#4.  WrestleMania 12:  The Ultimate Warrior vs Triple H

Well, I kinda like this one.  If it were played up like Goldberg vs Lesnar was more recently, it'd have been awesome.  But just because I like it BECAUSE it's so bad doesn't change the fact that Vince made a huge mistake banking on Warrior to come in and run wild over the company again.

#3.  WrestleMania 7:  Jake Roberts vs The Model Rick Martel, Blindfold Match

Just watch it.  It's hilarious.  I'd love to know who thought up this idea.  The build was magnificent, the execution of the match..  not so great.

#2.  WrestleMania 15:  Undertaker vs Big Boss Man, Hell in a Cell

This one's on a lot of worst match lists, just like #3 and much like #1 is also.  I don't want to waste much time talking about this one.  Just wrong on every level.  Why this feud earned the HIAC, I'll never know.

#1.  WrestleMania 9: Hulk Hogan wins the World Title from Yokozuna

Kinda like a predecessor to the Fingerpoke of Doom, this was just as bad in my opinion.  Hogan was already on his way down with the fans and yet somehow still convinced Vince to shotgun the title to him in the worst finish to a WrestleMania in history.  Without a doubt the worst ending to a WrestleMania ever.
