Big Bubba: The WWE Hall of Fame 2011

Okay, my topic this week is the Hall of Fame for WWE in 2011.  I was tied for last place this week so please vote for me!

WWE Hall of Fame 2011: Atlanta, Georgia

Since the HOF will be in Atlanta, most people have speculated that there will be some kind of WCW theme.  Since WCW was headquarted in Atlanta.  I think that makes a lot of sense, so I'm also thinking that's what will happen.  So I'm going to focus on big name WCW talent that isn't in the HOF already.

Here's a quick list of the WCW guys I could see going in:

Sting, Goldberg, Lex Luger, Ron Simmons, The Road Warriors, The Steiner Brothers

And a few others guys, known primarily for WWE runs, but also with big runs in WCW:

Randy Savage, The Outsiders / nWo / Hall & Nash, Booker T, Ultimate Warrior

And then there's also the opportunity to put Shawn Michaels in.

Quickly I will run down each of the names above, and then I'll give my class of 2011 picks:

Sting - Probably unlikely, but if he drops out of TNA before WrestleMania, it's a definite possibility.  If there's any chance we can get a Sting vs Undertaker match as Taker's final match at WrestleMania, coupled with Sting going into the Hall of Fame..  well, I think that would be one of the biggest deals in WrestleMania history.

Goldberg - I don't think he should be the headliner of the class, but I don't have much problem with him being one of the mid-inductees.  He's certainly a well-known wrestler and was HUGE in Atlanta, but I don't think his run really deserves a HOF headlining spot.  But considering some of the other names in the Hall, I don't think he should be excluded, either.

Lex Luger - Decent name, not that wrestling fans are that big on him given his in-ring ability.  I'd like to see him get inducted.  Definitely not headliner, but I would feel good about him going in.  He's had a rough time.  More well known for his WCW runs, and had some great matches in the late 80s, but also had a big run in WWE.  It was a flop in the end, but the Narcissist character was fun at his debut for the company.

Ron Simmons - He absolutely deserves it.  I remember watching him win the world title and how big of a moment it was. 

The Road Warriors - Yeah, I think they're going in for sure.  They had monstrous runs in both WCW & WWE.  They deserve to go in.

The Steiner Brothers - I think they belong in some day.  Not sure if 2011 is the time, especially if Road Warriors go in (one tag team is enough for one year), but they should go in at some point.  And to be honest hearing Scott Steiner give a speech to accept would make it completely worth it.

Randy Savage - He's been one of the most talked about inductees for the past few years, but it still hasn't happened yet.  He absolutely 100% should go in and until he does I think the Hall is incomplete.  WWE has released a DVD, whoever does the action figures has done a new Savage figure (even though I don't think WWE was involved) - so I feel like we're closer than ever to it.

Outsiders / nWo / Hall & Nash - I think for nWo alone these two belong in the HOF.  I don't think either on their own deserve headline status for the Hall, but together, with the WWE machine behind it and clips of the nWo, I think they certainly belong.  I'd say wait for Shawn Michaels to go in and get a Kliq theme going, but that could be 2011!

Booker T - He was a main eventer but I always thought he worked best in a midcard role, so I think he fits in at the bottom of a HOF class.  He definitely had some memorable runs at the top, though, so I do think he belongs in the HOF.

Ultimate Warrior - His WCW run was laughable, but with WWE, he was HUGE in the early 90s.  He backed out of the HOF this year though so I don't know if WWE will ever offer it to him again.

Shawn Michaels - If anyone deserves to be in, it's HBK.  The question is should they wait before inducting him.  I say no, he had a 20+ year career and Flair went in before wrestling his last match with WWE, so why not? 

And I do have a celebrity pick: Ted Turner - I don't know if he'd show up, but I still think he should go in regardless.  He took WCW to the top (with help from Bischoff, but it was Turner's money that made it possible).  And I'd love to see him accept.

My HOF Class of 2011

Going to give 2 options here.  It depends on Sting's availability.

If Sting is Available

Sting, Randy Savage, The Road Warriors, Ron Simmons, Booker T, Lex Luger, and Ted Turner

If Sting isn't Available

Shawn Michaels, Hall & Nash, The Road Warriors, Ron Simmons, Lex Luger, and Ted Turner

I think either choice would be an incredible HOF show.
