Big Bubba: WWE vs TNA, Fans vs Fans
Hey everyone it's time for my next Big Bubba entry! Hopefully I am not too late, with the hiatus that Big Bubba took I had forgotten to keep checking in on what was happening!
Anyway, my topic this week is the "TNA vs WWE" situation and to talk about the "fans bashing each other."
Well, I have to be honest here. I never watch TNA anymore, and I really don't keep up with any bashing that fans do on the web!
But it really just boils down to this.. WWE is the established wrestling company - across the world. WWE is without a doubt the "big dog." TNA is the second-largest wrestling company in the United States - I don't know that TNA is known that well outside of the US. Well, surely with the internet, people know about it if they visit wrestling message boards, but it's not like WWE - where the average non-wrestling fan knows what WWE is, but they would never know what you mean when you say TNA. (well, other than what people normally think of when you say T&A)
That's not a knock on TNA, it's just a fact. TNA may someday reach the same level, but they're definitely a long way from it. WWE was lucky, being the only game in town in the 80s when things blew up with Rocky III, WrestleMania 1, MTV, etc.
The best thing TNA could do is simply offer great wrestling matches, a little edgier content (but not JUST to be edgy, it needs to make sense), and to stop bringing in (and referencing on air) WWE talents. The longer WWE goes with TV-PG, the more fans they will continue to alienate, and TNA should capitalize on that.
As far as the fans go, I don't see any reason why fans of either company should have any problems with the fans of the other company. Different people like different things. You can be a fan of both companies! So I don't really see that there's much to say about that. Yeah, people are going to fight "for the honor of the company they support" - but it's kinda like each group of fans supporting a different football team. That's just how things go!
