A look back at the past year in WWE
View the SummerSlam (2011) Prediction Game Page
After watching Wrestlemania 26 in anticipation of Wrestlemania 27 on Sunday, I realised how much has actually happened in just one year in the WWE. But instead of going into detail about them all I will just give a list of the most important things:
- The rise and fall of Jack Swagger
- LayCool continue to dominate the divas division for an entire year
- Natalya wins her first title
- Nexus debuts, breaks apart and then reforms as two separate groups
- Randy Orton goes into his biggest organic face turn ever
- Sheamus solidifes himself as a main eventer during his second title reign
- NXT has been taken off TV (Can you believee NXT has been going for over a year?!)
- The tag team division has died
- Bret Hart has won the US title, been the GM of Raw and left the WWE once again
- Edge goes to Raw... And then back to SD
- Chris Jericho leaves the WWE for the 2nd time
- John Cena is "fired" from the WWE, only to be "rehired" in time for the next PPV
- The Rock returns to the WWE!
- The Miz wins the MITB, resulting with him cashing in on Orton to become the WWE champion, completing his rise from MTV reality star
- Undertaker takes time off after Mania, to return at Summerslam and be buried by Kane in three consecutive PPV's
- Paul Bearer returns and screws The Undertaker... Then he "dies"
- Kane wins his first World title in 10 years
- JBL reappears for 1 night only
- The Raw GM goes annonymous
- Michael Cole becomes one of the most hated people on television, even turning his fans (me) against him eventually
- John Morrison nearly breaks through the glass ceiling for the 2nd time, only to fail once again
- Jerry Lawler wrestles on a PPV!.... For the WWE championship?!
- Jerry Lawler wrestles at Wrestlemania!.... Against Michael Cole?!
- We never did find out what Triple H was going to say to Shawn
- Cody Rhodes goes "Dashing"... Then not-so dashing
- Meanwhile Ted Dibiase goes.... To the bottom of the pile?
- Batista leaves the WWE and heads to MMA after doing his best work in his entire career
- CM Punk goes bald!.... Then goes commentating!.... Then goes... Psyco?
- Alberto Del Rio rises to the top, making Rey Mysterio tap on his first night
- Johnny Curtis wins NXT Season 4... Never to be seen again
- Kaval joins the WWE!... Oh wait there he goes again
- Daniel Bryan leaves the WWE! .... Or did he?
- Don't blink Dolph Ziggler just became World Champion! Oh I blinked and missed it! I told you not to blink!
- MizGirl
- HBK retires
- MITB becomes a PPV
- Matt Hardy is released from WWE after going a bit weird on youtube
- Did I mention Dolph became World champion? Oh I did? Well did you see it? That's because you blinked!
Well it has been a busy year in the WWE hasn't it?
I dedicate this blog to HBK and his illustrious career and to Dolph Ziggler's "blink and you'll miss it" title reign
