WWE Draft Predictions for 2010

With WrestleMania only a few short weeks away, that means the annual WWE draft is right around the corner!  It's always one of my favorite nights for wrestling, at least when it's got interesting results.

So here are my draft predictions, and why I think they will (or at least should) happen:

From RAW to SMACKDOWN -

Randy Orton
Cody Rhodes
Jack Swagger
Mark Henry
Carlito
Yoshi Tatsu
Gail Kim

From SMACKDOWN to RAW -

John Morrison
Matt Hardy
R-Truth
DH Smith
Tyson Kidd
Ezekiel Jackson
Natalya Neidhart

So the biggest names moving brands would be Randy Orton and John Morrison.  I think after the Legacy break-up, which really should end at WrestleMania, Orton needs a new setting where he can continue to move into a babyface character.  I am bringing along Cody Rhodes, though, because DiBiase should be given a stronger push on Raw right now.  But I think Rhodes can grow in the midcard over on Smackdown, and revisiting things with Orton down the line would be a good possibility.

I'm moving John Morrison because with Edge staying on Smackdown, he'd be at least the third face down after Edge and Orton.  (assuming Undertaker takes a break after WM)  And with HBK taking a break over on Raw, and supposedly Batista may be off too, I could see Triple H going back to being a heel.  So Morrison would be the top face after John Cena - not a bad spot to be in on the flagship show.

Next up is Matt Hardy to Raw.  With Jeff on Impact, I think it makes sense to get the other Hardy on Raw to at least minimize the Hardy fans switching to TNA!

Then Jack Swagger and Carlito over to Smackdown.  Swagger hasn't been used well on Raw, so a change to Smackdown might let him become a top midcard heel.  I think Primo should follow Carlito in the supplemental draft, and they should tag again.  Carlito could then be the mentor on NXT that has extra tag team experience.  And it's not like he'll get anywhere as a singles guy.

In exchange, The Hart Dynasty to Raw.  Since Bret Hart is going to be sticking around for a bit, and they'll only want Bret on Raw, I say let the Dynasty get the rub from him.  With Bret as their mentor, they could rise up and take the place of Legacy on Raw.  Imagine the heat they'd get if they turned on Bret one day!  Instant heel turn.

So since Natalya would be going to Raw, I send Gail Kim back to Smackdown.  Maybe she can salvage her WWE career there.

Then it ends with Yoshi Tatsu for Ezekiel Jackson.  They both just got on new brands, but the draft is random!  I think Tatsu would get a better chance on Smackdown, and Jackson could become a dominant heel on Raw in the upper midcard.

Honestly I wanted to swap Edge for John Cena too - but I don't think they'll ever take Cena off Raw.  And if he stays on Raw, I'd rather Edge remain on Smackdown.

So I'm also going to make a poll asking if you'd want to see Cena move to SD.

  Poll Participated End Date

ok...there is no way they are going to turn both of the biggest heels in this decide face(orton and edge)edge i can see being a face but not orton.orton is way too good as a heel and the only way i can see edge staying face is if E&C forms again otherwise i think he'll be heel again by WM27  3/16/10 12:18 PM

Edge is possibly the best heel in the business and he should stay that way. If Orton turns face, he'd need new music for sure. I'm not sure I'd like him as a face either.  3/21/10 5:44 AM
