That's right everyone, a new Fingerpoke of Doom. Maybe you know the history of these kinds of finishes. If not, let's take a look back at some of these fun moments:
1) The original D-Generaton X were heels. HBK held both the WWE Championship and the European Championship. Sergeant Slaughter was the commissioner. To get back at DX for all their antics, he had the perfect idea - pit HHH against HBK for the European Championship. DX, in what I'll always say was their greatest run (the original run, as heels, where they really knew no bounds), thwarted Slaughter's plan in the greatest of ways. Watch the video if you don't know what happened, because it's one of the best things ever. It's not a fingerpoke, but you could say this is the grandfather of this type of comedy in wrestling.

2) The "New Age Outlaws" Rule for tag team matches. I can't find a video of when this originally happened, but the basic gist of it is this: When you have a mutli-tag team match, like say you had Jerishow vs Hart Dynasty vs Cryme Tyme, a rule had to go into place that would prevent Chris Jericho and Big Show being the two legal men in the match. What originally happened that created this rule was that the New Age Outlaws were taking on more than one team. Both Billy Gunn and Road Dogg ended up being tagged into the match. Well, the logical move here is for one of the partners to take the fall, because your team wins the match! And of course, that's what happened, and from then on, WWE would specifically state that these types of matches had the "New Age Outlaws Rule" in effect.
3) The infamous Fingerpoke of Doom. Kevin Nash was world champion, I believe shortly after winning the title from Goldberg. Hulk Hogan made his return to WCW on this particular Nitro, and as former nWo allies, they were getting pitted against each other. Of course, Hogan was playing the babyface all night. So we get to the match, and instead of them actually wrestling, Hogan poked Nash in the chest. Nash acted as if the poke was the hardest move he'd ever taken, and slammed himself into the mat. Hogan pinned him, 1-2-3, Hogan is the new champion.
So why am I bringing all of this up?
At Survivor Series, we're getting the WWE Champion John Cena defending against both Shawn Michaels and Triple H. In a triple threat match, John Cena doesn't have to be pinned to lose the title.
So come on, D-Generation X is all about taking advantage of situations. "You make the rules, and WE WILL BREAK THEM!" Since HBK has less title reigns than HHH, they can make the agreement that HHH will lay down for HBK.
In fact, it'd be stupid for DX NOT to do this. WWE presents DX as the guys who outsmart everyone, so if they don't do this, I'd say WWE Creative is failing. Even if it's not the way all of us fans want to see the match play out, because we want to see wrestling, we'd have to give it up to DX for making the intelligent move.

hahaha that clip of DX you put in there is one of the greatest things I've ever seen! I agree with you that DX should try doing something like that and I wouldn't doubt they will but I bet Cena would break the pin. 10/28/09 1:43 PM |

And now that Hogan, Nash, Bischoff and Russo are with the same company, it could happen again. Or someone should at least make a joke about it. 10/28/09 2:22 PM |
