The Slammy's Hosted by Dennis Miller, 1 Day After The TLC Tables Ladders and Chairs PPV

I just read that Dennis Miller will be hosting Raw for the 3-hour Slammy Awards show on December 14th.  That's the day after the TLC PPV.  That makes sense, to make sure all the big shows have happened before giving the awards out.  Wouldn't surprise me to see a planned spot in one of the TLC matches get set up specifically to win a Slammy award.

Though I read Cletus' post about Jericho and Undertaker, and how he doesn't think Taker will be defending the title in a TLC match because he's not exactly moving like he used to yet.

I have to agree that Taker won't be in a TLC match.  Not only would I be afraid for him, but I just don't think he could pull it off.  Unless they make it a multi-man match, but then, we're doing two three-way main events at Survivor Series.  So that makes it less likely in my opinion, though WWE loves to redo things too quickly these days.

But I just don't see Jericho winning the title.  If he did, I guess it's not like Big Show can get another cross-brand title match unless he did something more for Teddy Long (possibly by injuring Taker at Survivor Series).  But then I wouldn't really want to see Show vs Jericho in a TLC match, and if Jericho won the title, you'd think Big Show would want a match against him or they'd be a very reluctant tag team..

I'm wondering now if we might actually see them take the title off Undertaker on a Smackdown episode.  Personally, I think it would make more sense for WWE to promote a Taker defense on an episode of Raw..  not only to boost ratings, but because it'd be live and the spoilers couldn't get out.  There are 3 Raws between Survivor Series and TLC.  One in Hershey, PA, one in Baltimore, MD, and one in Dallas, TX.

I know Batista is billed as being from DC, so they could run the match in Baltimore (it's pretty close to DC after all) as Batista vs Undertaker..  but again, Batista's not really someone I want to see in a TLC match either.

I'm struggling to think of what they might have in store for us.

It's always possible that they'll run an injury angle for Taker.  Possibly JeriShow demolishing him at Survivor Series after Taker picks up the win..  leading to the title being held up.  Show and Jericho can try to claim the right to the title, only to find out it's being held up and will be claimed by the winner of a TLC match.  That makes sense - going into a match where the title has to be grabbed off a ladder essentially means at the start of the match there is no champion.  (since there's no finish to the match that would "by default" make the champion retain, like a DQ/count-out)

That could be interesting if they did that.  Have a multi-man TLC match for the World Heavyweight title, while Undertaker is off "due to injury" (explaining why he wouldn't be a part of the TLC match).  There are a lot of guys on Smackdown I'd enjoy seeing in a ladder match - Jericho, Punk, Morrison, Mysterio..  maybe toss in Big Show and Batista to round it out to 6.

And hey I just saw a question was posted here about the Superstar of the Year winner.  I think it's going to be John Cena or Randy Orton.  I would guess Cena since a heel won it last year (Jericho).

This whole time it has been burned into my brain that Jericho was definitely going to WIN the title at Survivor Series, but your post has made me see the light.

I don't think Taker will lose at Survivor Series and I most definitely do not see him losing on a weekly show, so having him stripped of the title makes perfect sense. But something has to happen for the title to be stripped.

This is where the whole Vince McMahon on Smackdown mystery unravels. Vince can finally reveal he was the one behind the Montreal Screwjob v.2. This will enrage the deadman and he will attack Vince which will lead to his title being taken away.

Now we can finally get to TLC without Taker losing a title match and also without him having to compete in a TLC match. It also leaves open the possibility for more dissension between JeriShow without one of them winning the belt at SS. And of course any number of Smackdown superstars could be involved in a TLC for the vacated championship.

As far as the Slammy show goes, I wonder if Dennis Miller will be more involved in the show than other guest hosts have been since he is the first to be named over a month in advance. I just came from answering the question of who will win superstar of the year and my pick was John Cena for the exact same reasons you gave, Steiner. The only other guy to have a shot is Orton because he won 3 more WWE titles this year compared to Cena's 2. But we all know who came out on top at the conclusion of that rivalry (Kofi).  11/6/09 10:25 PM
