The Brothers of Destruction and Chris Jericho vs Undertaker

Another thing I wanted to write about has to do more with the potential of a Chris Jericho vs Undertaker match at WrestleMania 26.  I mentioned a Jericho/Taker feud in my previous post about Undertaker's return to WWE, but said I really don't want that feud to start just yet.

And with Jericho being one of the current Unified Tag Team Champions (with a yet-unnamed mystery partner, maybe I'll post about that next), a great way to lead into a Jericho/Taker feud presents itself!

Now, the biggest hurdle I see in doing Jericho vs Taker at WM26 is this - they're really planting the seeds for Edge vs Chris Jericho upon Edge's return.  Right now, no one is sure when Edge will be able to return.  If he returns before WrestleMania 26, you would have to think he'd be taking on Jericho at that show - not only is that a really big match (one could argue just as big as Undertaker vs Jericho, though I'd say not quite), but it makes a lot of sense to do it.  You can't bring Edge back and NOT have him immediately go after Jericho.  However, the flip-side to it is that a lot of people are picking Edge to win the Royal Rumble in 2010 - which also depends on him returning in time for that.  If he does win the Rumble, they COULD postpone the Jericho/Edge feud until after WrestleMania - possibly with Jericho challenging Edge for the title Edge would win at WrestleMania!  So that could work..

But anyway without going too far off course, my reason for this post is coming up with a fun way to lead into the Jericho/Taker match.  And it has to do with Jericho being a tag team guy right now.

Let's say Undertaker returns at least by October or November - I think (and you can read it in my last blog) Taker will be back for SummerSlam, but I'd imagine his first feud will be in the world title picture.  So you do that for a few months, and before the Royal Rumble rolls around, you put back together the most dominant tag team short of the Two Man Power Trip (Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin).  The Brothers of Destruction, Kane and The Undertaker.  And if Jericho is still part of the tag team champions, or at least still in the running for those titles, you can start building to the singles feud by having huge tag team matches. 

And in the Rumble itself, having both tag teams in the match will add something cool to the Rumble match - who's going to be able to stop Undertaker and Kane from teaming up and obliterating the competition?  Kane, the absolute monster of Rumble eliminations, and Undertaker, who won the Rumble pretty recently and one of the front-runners to win any Rumble match he's in.  You have Jericho and his partner somehow cheat a way to eliminate them - similar to how Jericho eliminated Shawn Michaels in HBK's first Rumble after returning to the WWE in 2002.  (remember?  HBK was #1 I believe, and Jericho entered from the crowd instead of the rampway - and eliminated HBK much to everyone's chagrin!)

So not only would we get the incredible star power in tag team matches of Jericho/Mystery Partner vs Brothers of Destruction, but it would lead to the huge blow-off match at WrestleMania of Chris Jericho vs The Undertaker. 

Now, I may post about my thoughts on Jericho's mystery partner later more in-depth, but if my ideas above are anywhere close to being possible, Jericho has to have a SERIOUS partner - one who can even the playing field for Jericho against two monsters in Kane and Undertaker.  Big Show is the immediate choice.  Who else?  You could argue Jack Swagger, who has the look, but I don't know if he has the height to make things look even.  Mark Henry would've been another possibility, but after Raw, I don't see that happening.  Who else is there that could work?  Vladimir Kozlov - wouldn't want to see that.  The Great Khali?  Again, don't want to see that.  We could go crazy and bring up the fun rumor of Sid Vicious, but I don't see that happening.  Anyone have any ideas on who Jericho could employ that would make a feud with the Brothers of Destruction work?
