The Miz as the New Dirtiest Player in the Game

As we all know, Ric Flair had the moniker "The Dirtiest Player in the Game."  And for good reason - he held onto the world title so many times through underhanded tactics.

Why not turn Miz into something similar?  He's a cocky heel already, pretty full of himself, so having him start to "outsmart" his opponents (not that it's really outsmarting when you cheat, hence the quotes around it - but Miz would refer to it as outsmarting) could allow them to transform his character into a major player.

Have Miz win the US title, and hold onto it for a long time - potentially up to No Way Out.  At this point, he's going to be taken seriously, and in the mid-card, let's just say that it should be booked where no one is able to get past all of his dirty tactics.

What I'm building to here is something that would end up having been a long-term storyline.  Who is Miz's ultimate opponent?  It's John Cena, of course, since Miz has never beat him. 

So after Miz has been built up as someone fans can finally believe could win the world title, because he's just so good at getting away with whatever he wants, you put one person in his way before he gets a chance to go after the world champion. 

That person would be John Cena.  Whether they feed Miz a good opponent at WrestleMania to lead towards the Cena match at Backlash, or if they really want to strap the rocket more to Miz, have the match at WrestleMania - they finally let Miz get the better of Cena. 

At that point, ideally, they ACTUALLY have Miz win the world title.  Whether the champ is Batista, Triple H, or Shawn Michaels, you have Miz actually pull it off - and still of course using dirty tricks.  (which in effect doesn't hurt the person he beats, not that either of the three I named have anything to worry about - they should be happy to build up another foil for themselves other than Randy Orton on Raw) 

Then you have Miz constantly dodge Cena somehow. 

Finally, SummerSlam 2010 rolls around, and Cena gets that title shot against Miz.  Think of this as a year-long build to a huge pay-off.  It would make all the losses Miz had against Cena tolerable, since they were the starting point for Miz's transformation, then Miz would have beaten Cena which leads to Miz becoming champ, and now you really don't know for sure that Cena can manhandle Miz and easily win the title.

And of course, this is way too early to really book, but you either have the happy ending of Cena beating Miz for the title (possibly by having it a steel cage match, reducing the chances of Miz cheating to win), or you have something completely unexpected happen with another wrestler intervening and costing Cena the match. Then you can even wait a few more months to do the final Miz/Cena confrontation.

Either way, this would make sense of everything WWE did with Miz and Cena on Raw in past months.  It would make Miz a believable world title contender.

Flair never had the huge physique like many of his opponents, same as Miz.  But Flair was believable.  The Miz can be, too.
