Affiliate Your Wrestling Site With Us!

I've gotten a few notices that at least one of the users here has been posting about my site on various wrestling sites that I'm not actively a member of.  While I appreciate the support, I'm not a big fan of anyone being seen as a spammer even if it's done with good intentions.

There are a few sites that we are actively affiliated with here at fourdown.org, and those communities are gracious enough to allow me to personally post at their sites to inform their users about current and upcoming prediction games that their members can participate in.  In return, those sites have leagues specifically set up here that provide those communities with the opportunity to link back to their sites and many other features that I hope help spread the word about what is offered in those communities (such as displaying their RSS feed on our homepage and/or on their public league page, getting direct links on our homepage or in blog posts, and being referenced at our WWE Universe group which happens to be the largest and most active group at the WWE Universe website).  It's also a way for a particular community to say, "Hey, we're the #1 wrestling community on the web when it comes to making predictions about all things wrestling, so if you're looking for a great place for news and discussion with proven credibility, come and check us out and become a member if you like what you see!"

When I decided to approach a few wrestling communities about setting up leagues here at the site, the idea I had in mind was that their members would make their predictions here at my site and then discuss the predictions made at the online wrestling community to which they belong.  I felt that would add something fresh for those communities to discuss and in turn, hopefully increase the participation and traffic at those community websites.  The league competition also seemed like a fun way to let existing sites stake a claim at being full of the best and brightest wrestling fans around, while also letting the members of those communities compete amongst themselves for a little bit of bragging rights. 

Since I've unfortunately had to deal with two sites letting me know that someone has been repeatedly linking to my site (when it is against the rules for those sites), I felt it necessary to address publicly.  I'd like to extend the offer of setting up leagues for any community out there because ideally it would become a mutually-beneficial situation.  I've spoken to the user in question and hopefully the problem is resolved, but I'd still like to make amends with the affected sites by doing what I can to help promote your site.

Very soon, I will be creating a special section of the site that lists our direct affiliates along with a brief description of the site so that the many users we have here can look through the list and find a community that feels like a good fit.  I will also be working on a new feature in the site's Facebook application that will provide a similar function.  Essentially, a way for Facebook users who may not even know about (or are afraid to look for) the various wrestling communities that exist online. 

The goal of this site has never been to be a one-stop shop for all things wrestling, but instead a site that is complementary to the site that you already use to get your news and discussion. 

So if you run a wrestling site - and it doesn't matter if it's a forum, a wrestler fansite, your own personal wrestling blog, or hey, it doesn't even have to be a wrestling site - and would like to become affiliated with us here, don't hesitate to contact me and if you have specific ideas that would make the relationship more worthwhile to you, I'm always happy to talk!  The only thing that I ask in return is a link back to us here, the opportunity to inform your visitors of the prediction games (which I'm more than happy to do on my own), and I could go for a really nice back rub while we're at it. 

And again, I want to apologize to any website owners that have had to deal with someone breaking your rules by linking to my site.

When I create the affiliates section, sites that wish to be specifically known as an affiliate (a lot of you already are but I'll still be checking with you via email first) will have the chance to provide a short description, photo, and whatever else (within reason) to me.  The list would always be provided in random order as I want every affiliate to have the same average chance of getting visitors from here!
