MMA Prediction Games Are Coming to fourdown.org!

Over the next few months, I'll be working on splitting up the site into two distinct sides - wrestling and MMA. 

If you want to predict both wrestling and MMA, you'll be able to do it using the same account.  If you have no interest in MMA, your experience here will be mostly unchanged.  And anyone coming to predict MMA that has no interest in wrestling will never have to see anything dealing with wrestling unless desired.

Early on, before the site officially launched, this was the plan..  in fact, if you look at the filenames for most of the site pages on the left, you'll notice they start with "fw_" - which stands for "fantasy wrestling."  The MMA site will basically be an exact mirror, but with those files starting with "fm_" - and more than likely, underneath the logo at the top of the site (possibly even where the "Search & Win" image is), there will be a way to toggle the site between wrestling and MMA. 

And the MMA site will be almost exactly the same - the only item that I doubt will make it across is 4-UP.  I think for MMA, predicting the shows is as good as it can get.  Fighters don't make appearances enough over the course of the seasons run here for a fantasy game to make much sense. 

Even blogs will be handled.  If you post a blog to the wrestling side, it will not appear on the MMA side.  Site and dev blogs will work the same way, too, though I'll have the option to flag one blog post to appear on both sides when it makes sense to do that.

Leagues will have the choice to exist on both sides, but that will not happen by default.  Players will be able to belong to one league on the wrestling side, and a different league on the MMA side, even if their original league does exist on both sides.

User profile pages and league profile pages are a trickier part.  Since both the MMA and wrestling games will run under the fourdown.org domain, which user profile will be displayed when you visit a user's page?  Well, as the user, you'll have control over which profile is your default.  When someone visits your page, you can make it default to your MMA profile, and they'll then be able to toggle between your wrestling and MMA profiles.  And of course - if you are only playing the MMA games, there won't be an option to see a wrestling profile for you.  The same thing will happen with leagues.

Since the site was moslty built with this idea in mind, it shouldn't take too long to have it set up.  Maybe a month or two, depending on how much time I have to work on it. 

Some of the planned differences in the MMA PPV prediction games - while you'll still be picking the winner and the finish (KO, Submission, Decision, etc), there is obviously no "interference" in MMA.  Instead, you'll have the option to choose in what round the fight finished.

And to start off, UFC will be the primary company followed.  I'm not sure yet which others will be covered - so please, tell me if you have a particular company you want included!
