cletus42o's Thoughts: I put this question up since it appears WWE may be positioning Matt Hardy to take Jeff Hardy's place if (when) Jeff takes some time off. Will they just use Matt as Punk's first opponent that he beats to solidify another Punk reign, or will they use Punk to transition the title to Matt to give Matt the push of his lifetime?
There probably would be money in another Edge/Matt feud down the line.. the first time around, Matt wasn't quite ready for it, but he's improved a lot and Edge is also way better than he was at the time. If Edge and Jeff end up making Matt and Christian as big of stars as they are, something I'd love to see, I'd say that The Hardy Boys and Edge & Christian are pretty close to being the top two tag teams of all time.
As far as what I think about Matt getting the title in 2009.. I'm going to say yes. Smackdown needs another top face and Smackdown creative seems to know when to push someone heavily to fill a gap, as they're doing with Punk with Edge out.

From what I have read about Matt's return the company is going to keep him at the uppermid card level. Which of course you never Vince could change that in a heart beat.
