4-UP: Team Battle Royales

Okay, so this seems to be a new concept from WWE this season - Team Battle Royales.  I certainly can't recall this happening anytime in the past!  (before this season, I mean - I'm pretty sure we did get one other one before the one on tonight's Smackdown, just a month or two ago)

The way I scored it then, and the way I'll score it for tonight's Smackdown, is this -

Any remaining members of the team, that were not physically involved in the final elimination, get points for the "Won: Association" flag.

The member(s) who scored the final elimination get points for the "Won: Gimmick" flag.

And that's pretty much it - eliminated members of the winning team won't score points as far as winning the match goes.

If anyone has an issue with this, let me know - I could change this policy for next season.  But since I already scored a previous team battle royale this way this season, I have to remain consistent!  I don't personally see a problem with this scoring method, but I'm happy to hear from any players so that I can take it into account for the next season!

But just to be clear, for Survivor Series Elimination matches (or really, any tag team elimination match), I do give the eliminated members points for "Won: Association".  That may seem like it goes against the policy I adopted for Team Battle Royales, but the key difference to me is that a battle royale is won by "gimmick" only, there is no other way to win the match.  (though true, we have had a Royal Rumble with two winners in the past - luckily, I wasn't running 4-UP when that happened, though!) 

I think the way I see it, and I think this may convince anyone on the fence, is that I don't consider the battle royales to be team-based until all members of the opposing team have been eliminated.  Up until that moment, someone on one team could theoretically eliminate one of his teammates.  In a tag team elimination match, that is NOT possible. 

I'll admit though that I'm not 100% sure on the rules of a Team Battle Royale - if someone knows for sure that someone going over the top rope by way of a teammate does not count as an elimination, I would probably reconsider.  But I find that hard to believe - if that WERE the case, I'd think any teammate would always give one of his teammates the "final push" over the top rope if that teammate were in a precarious position - effectively making that elimination null and void.  (not to say that WWE doesn't have that rule in place and just not realize it could and should be abused!)

Thanks to NeedRepairs, one of our 4-UP Administrators, for checking with me on this issue and making me realize I should post an official announcement to all the players about it!  And as always, thanks to all the other 4-UP Admins helping out this season - apsouthern, wwefan18, and nighte - the game would seriously NOT be possible without these guys helping out each week by painfully entering everything that happens on Raw, Smackdown, Superstars, and PPV (if there was a PPV).  It's not an easy job to do!
