Raw 1000

I'm stupified at how Raw 1000 has been promoted. Vince McMahon and Triple H have apparently concluded that the 1000th episode of Raw is more important than any of the Summer's Pay-Per-Views and much more important than any other episode of Raw or Smackdown. Here is a list of a few of the events that are set to take place on Raw 1000 and my thoughts on each:


WWE Championship Match - CM Punk vs "Mr. Money in the Bank" John Cena

The WWE Championship gets defended on Raw maybe once or twice per year. The last time it changed hands on Raw was almost exactly one year ago. Rey Mysterio won an eight-man tournament to crown a new WWE Champion after CM Punk's contract "expired" while he still held the Championship. Then (cheaply), John Cena was booked in a match with Mysterio that same night and won the belt. However, Punk never relinquished his belt, and at Summerslam, he defeated Cena to become the undisputed WWE Champion. It's funny (not really) how a year has passed and we're back to the same feud. It's almost like it's Wrestlemania season. But as for this match, I don't see a true ending happening on Raw 1000. I think Big Show will interfere before the bell rings and there will be no contest.

The Rock Returns

I think The Rock will also be involved in the Cena/Punk non-match. I see Big Show keeping the match from happening, but then Rock comes out and gives huge Rock Bottoms to Punk and Cena, sending the message that whoever is the champion at Wrestlemania time, he is ready for them.

Brock Lesnar & Triple H

This rivalry has been awful - mainly because neither participant is ever around. But WWE keeps shoving it down our throats, so hopefully Lesnar actually shows up and accepts a match for Summerslam. As far as I'm concerned, the quicker this feud ends, the better.

The Marriage of Daniel Bryan and AJ Lee

Weddings always go smoothly in wrestling, so I can't see anything getting in the way here....except maybe the fact that D. Bryan is playing AJ like a harpsichord......or that AJ is a dingbat.......or that there is a big red monster that could show up and set things on fire.......but other than that, it should be fine.

Appearances by WWE Legends

WWE usually mishandles the appearance of legends. A lot of times, they are booked in comedy matches with the likes of Santino, Zack Ryder, or nowadays Heath Slater. Sometimes Hornswoggle is involved. It seems that they favor some guys over others. Shawn Michaels is set to open the show with Triple H. Those guys hardly ever disappoint. Undertaker is also rumored to appear. But if someone like Val Venis or Funaki shows up, expect a stinker of a segment.


I believe Raw 1000 will be an outstanding program. They will probably have trouble fitting everything into the 3-hour timeslot. I'm different than most in that I think the 3-hour Raw will be successful for the remainder of the year. I am glad that the lower-midcarders will be given more time to build their characters and I am super excited for the tag division. WWE actually has a stronger tag division than TNA for the first time in 3 or 4 years. With teams like the Primetime Players and Hunico and Comacho getting off to good starts, I can't wait to see if they can improve throughout the rest of the year. Don't expect to see much of them on Raw 1000 though.
