Big Bubba: WrestleMania 25 Review

Okay my topic this week was to review WrestleMania 25. Unfortunately I don't own it on DVD but I have seen the show twice, so I figure I can do it from memory just fine. I won't go in depth on what happened in matches, but I'll give my impressions on how the matches/storylines played out and if they met my expectations.

Overall I thought WM25 was a pretty poor PPV. Very few matches lived up to expectations.

Money in the Bank: CM Punk, Kane, Mark Henry, Montel Vontavious Porter, Shelton Benjamin, Kofi Kingston, Christian and Finlay
This one was awesome. CM Punk ended up winning for the 2nd straight year - I remember being shocked because that was completely unexpected. I'll admit to hoping Christian would win it, but I just didn't think they were going to be giving Punk another shot at the main event so soon. One of the few bright spots on the show.

25 Diva Battle Royale
Yawn. Santino winning this was okay, but I remember expecting all sorts of women from the past to show up. I remember being disappointed in who they got for the match, and then disappointed with how they used the ones they were able to get.

Chris Jericho vs Legends (Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, and Jimmy Snuka with Ric Flair), Elimination Match
Okay, I really had no expectations at all for this match. And Ricky Steamboat was definitely one of the bright spots on this show. It was awesome seeing him go again. Match wasn't anything spectacular until it came down to Jericho and Steamboat. Jericho won but Steamboat was the star.

Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy, Extreme Rules
Huge letdown, just like every other match between the two of them! Matt won this if you don't remember.

Rey Mysterio vs JBL (c), IC Match
This wasn't much of a match, Mysterio won in a few seconds and JBL retired from wrestling.

Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker
This was the most incredible match I'd ever seen, and the only match since that's come close was their rematch at WM26! I really can't do this match justice with words. If you haven't seen it, you're not much of a wrestling fan!

John Cena vs Big Show vs Edge (c), WHC Match
Just a boring match between the three of them. Of course Cena gets the big win at WM to capture the title. And this had the awful storyline leading in with Vickie Guerrero and the love triangle.

Randy Orton vs HHH (c), WWEC Match
Probably the worst main event in the history of WrestleMania. This was a boring match. I love Orton and HHH, but together, unless it's a Last Man Standing match, they just don't click.
