What's Up With That? (Daniel Bryan)

Before Bryan Danielson signed with the WWE about a year or so ago, the only thing I knew about him was what I had read in Pro Wrestling Illustrated and other wrestling magazines. I knew he was a champion in Ring of Honor but other than that I didn't know much about him. In my reading I learned that he has fully loaded arsenal of wrestling holds and moves and was sought after all over the world.

With that said, when Daniels signed with WWE I thought, "way to go WWE, you have a purebred who can use the "sweet science" of actual wrestling and perhaps will be able to put on clinics of what wrestling is all about, not relying solely on brawling tactics.

Then he was renamed Daniel Bryan. He became a "rookie" on the initial season of NXT. He did not win I believe in his first eight matches on the show, but yet was ranked towards the top week after week. Despite his mentor, The Miz, berating him left and right, Michael Cole would put him down as well.

Bryan went on to be eliminated during that first season of NXT. Months later when the Nexus first appeard being led by season one winner Wade Barrett, along with David Otunga, Michael Tarver, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Skip Sheffield, Darren Young and Daniel Bryan they invaded Raw and took apart the ringside area, dismantled John Cena. During all this Bryan spat on Cena and grabbed ringside announcer Justin Roberts by his necktie and choked him during the melee.

Daniel Bryan was thus released for violating the WWE's PG policy by spitting and choking. Just like that Danielson was gone from WWE before he really got established.

Whether it was a work or not we will never know for sure unless someone writes a tell-all book later on. Eventually, Bryan was rehired by the company and at the time of this show he is the current WWE United States champion.

As of late, Daniel Bryan can be seen backstage with the Bella Twins by his side. In the last week or so, the Bellas have caught him with Gail Kim which is leading to the twins heel turn.

Now I have to ask, "What's up with that?"

Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan deserves to be a top star with the WWE. He's the United States champion, a former ROH champion and has the goods to become a top tier superstar with the organization.

It appears to me that he is being held back by the powers that be in spite of all his natural God-given abilities. What is the WWE thinking with their use of Daniel Bryan? When you have a race horse, you certainly don't put him behind a plow!

Put Daniel Bryan in the main event spotlight and watch his light shine!
