WWE Raw (Valentine's Edition): The Rock Returns

Happy Valentine's Day from WWE Raw, Cena opens the show and puts down Michael Cole. CM Punk interrupts him. He says he's a good person and says something about "Good things happen to good people"

Which sets up a John Cena vs. CM Punk opening match and there must be a winner.

It was a back and forth match for a while. Cole the heel broadcaster (and bad one at that) hypes that Punk is 2-0 versus Cena. The crowd is clearly in Cena's corner. After a few minutes of action Punk is out of the ring I believe he was tossed, but don't quite remember. Someone with a Nexus armband pushes a steel chair from underneath the ring to Punk who slides it into the ring. The ref sees this and tosses the chair out of the other side. Meanwhile the same arm hands a wrench from underneath the ring and Cena walks over to get Punk, but gets Punk'd instead. The Chicago native and Nexus leader nails him with the wrench and now is 3-0 against "the champ."

Punk is a natural heel, but I'm really ready for him to get some handed back to him for a change. Tired of him and Nexus always having the upper hand.

Back to the announcers. They are announcing that the King, Jerry Lawler is absent tonight due to the passing of his mom. I have to hand it to them it was a classy thing to do and my sincere condolences go to Jerry and his family during this time.

Alberto del Rio arrives in a Bentley covertable. Slick ride I must say. He does his usual "I'm Alberto del Rio, but you already knew that" routine. Talks about his destiny blah, blah, blah. Thank goodness Edge interrupts and attacks del Rio. Rodriguez tries to help his boss but his clothesliend off the ring apron. Meanwhile del Rio who was outside the ring is on the opposite ring apron and his speared by the Rated R Superstar.

Vickie "Excuse Me" Guerrero comes out and introduces the "new" World heavyweight champion, Dolph Zigglar. She continues that on Friday night Smackdown Dolph will be officially coronated the champion and that's not all Edge will lose. He will lose his job because she has proof that Edge is responsible for the attack on Teddy Long a few weeks back.

Sounds like the 600th episode of Smackdown could be interesting this week. Also it was announced that this milestone will feature stars from Raw such as Cena and I believe they said Orton.

Divas match. Someone came in the room where I was and distracted me so I didn't really see what happened other than I saw Eve Torres pin Natalya. Backstage the Bellas picked a fight with Torres and Hart aided her.

Mark Henry comes out to the ring but is attacked from behind by Sheamus. Sheamsu reminds his Elimination Chamber foes what he is capable of and offers Mark Henry another brogue kick.

WWE champion The Miz with Alex Riley come to the ring with the usual Michael Cole love for the champion, praising his every breath.

The Miz versues United States Champion Daniel Bryan.

During the match which really seems irrevelent, all you hear is Cole's adoration of Miz. Comaring him to Verne Gagne, Bob Backlund and a young Triple H. Also said he brawls like someone but I didn't catch the name.. Goes on to say Miz has Hall of Fame credentials already and that he's one of the greatest WWE champions of all time. Miz wins with the Skull Crushing Finale.

Nexus members Michael McGillicutty with Mason Ryan versues John Morrison and R-Truth. It was originally to be Morrison vs. Truth, but during the commercial break the anonymous Raw GM e mailed Cole and set this tag match up.

Morrison is out and has a look of revenge in his injured eyes from last weeks spraying by Punk.. Morrison pins McGillicutty and both he and Truth beat down Ryan for a short while post match.

Morrison is looking good these days, getting a great push. Would love to see him go to the next level and perhaps challenge and defeat Miz for the WWE championship.

Triple H's costar Ariel (didn't get her last name) comes out, she's the "guest star" tonight apparently. Introduces the Khali Kiss Cam ( it is Valentines Day afterall).

Khali speaks and of course it is interpreted by his brother Rajun Singh (excuse the spelling) They say the "cam" will be different tonigth. Khali will not be the kisser but whoever the camera pans to in the audience or in the back will be kissing. Interesting.

We see some couples in the audience and they kiss. The camera pans to the back and we see Santino and Tamino who kiss. The "Cobra" comes out and Santino smacks it down and says "she's my girl." A few more couples in the audience then back to the back, where we see Vickie Guerrero who then lays one on her boyfriend Dolph Zigglar. Sick if you ask me.

Next the camera picks up Ted Dibiase and Maryse. Maryse steps away and does her hand thing to the son of the Million Dollar Man. She then kisses Yoshi Tatsu who still has no clue what's happening. Next up the camera shows up Zack Ryder talking (nothing unusual there) with William Regal. Regal smiles and gives Ryder a peck on the cheek. Seems since Regal will kiss Mr. McMahons butt, he will kiss another superstar.. Go figure.

Back to the ring and out from underneath comes Hornswoggle with a box of chocolates. He presents them to Ariel who in turn kisses him ending this "love fest" segment.

Back to the action, Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

Actually it was the best match of the night. Hard fought. Sheamus executes a superplex to Orton who manages to get up and RKO the King of the Ring. After the pin, Orton is attacked by Punk and Nexus. Morrison and Truth come out to save Orton, then John Cena comes out. RKO's to Nexus members and Cena gives Punk a Attitude Adjustment and rule the ring.

Finally, the guest host of Wrestlemania arrives in a black limo. The camera picks up the legs of a lady and the announcers wonder, "who is she?" We go to break.

When we come back live the ring announcer introduces "Please welcome the guest host of Wrestlemania......" The lights go out on the Wrestlemania sign. Other lights go out.

Music begins to play and here comes the guest host -----The Rock!!!

The arena goes wild

The Rock says...."Finally after seven long years The Rock has come back to Anaheim. Finally the Rock has comes back to Monday Night Raw and Finally The Rock has come BACK HOME!"

He goes on to remind those younger ones about his nicknames, "The Great One, the Most Electrifying man in all of Entertainment and The People's Champion, But as Dwayne I want to tell you why I'm back. Because of you. It's because of the fan support all these seven long years he was able to achieve his goals and dreamas and accomplish all he's done. He thanks the fans and says I love you.

He goes on to say "And I give you my word I'm never going away."

He talks about there is one man who trashed talked him when he first left, but is interrupted by the E mail alert. As Michael Cole gets up to do his usual "And I quote" routine he's stopped by the Brahma Bull and we here "vintage" Rock. He tells Cole to sit down and know your role.

Back to his original thought, the man that trashed talked him was John Cena. He will see Cena at Wrestlemania teasing a possible match. He goes on to say something about the Miz. Classic Rock material.

I thought this final segment was the best of the evening, unfortuately it was past the 11 o' Clock time. I guess WWE waived the PG rating because they let the Rock say things that haven't been said on WWE programing in quite some time.

Glad to see him back though. It could be good for the ratings and getting folks back to the arenas.
