What's Up With That? (Alex Riley and the MITB case)

Welcome to this week's episode of "What's Up With That?" I'm your host Dare2believe and this week we will be looking at Alex Riley and the Money In The Bank Case. Let's get started.

It has been several months now since the inaugaral WWE PPV called "Money In The Bank." This is not to be confused with the annual match held at Wrestlemania.

Most wrestling fans know that Kane was victorious for the Smackdown version of this concept match. He cashed his "guaranteed contract" soon thereafter and became the World Heavyweight Champion on the Friday night show. He held the title for a couple of months and if I'm not mistaken (I've been known to make a few) he held the title longer than his other world championship reigns.

Now over on the Raw brand, the young obnoxious and rising superstar, The Miz, defeated all his opponents in the Monday night version of the same PPV events. He held on to his briefcase containing his "guaranteed championship contract" for quite some time (probably the longest of all the previous MITB winners). He finally cashed in the contract against the Viper, Randy Orton to become the WWE champion in November.

I suppose the creative minds of WWE cannot figure out what to do with Alex Riley who came from the 2nd season of NXT. To update you, he was hired to be The Miz's protege/apprentice. He appears alongside the champion at ringside in a suit and continues to carry a metal briefcase much like the one that The Miz won at the MITB PPV, except this one is plane metallic and not the red one with the MITB logo label.

On the February 28th episode of Monday Night Raw we saw The Miz, Alex Riley and John Cena confront one another in the ring. A match was arranged which turned out to be a cage match. The stipulation was that if Cena lost he would have to admit that The Miz is Awesome and is the greatest superstar of all time and if Riley lost The Miz would have to fire his young friend.

My question and yours to Alex Riley and his carrying the metallic briefcase each and every week is this: "WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?"

It almost seems silly to ask it now since he likely will be fired next week, but I still need to know what is his purpose in carrying that case around especially to ringside. Obviously, it will be used to either distract or injure The Miz's opponent to carry him on to victory. We have seen numerous times that the champion will not hesitate to use this case to execute his Skull Crushing Finale on his opponent for the cheap win.

Shouldn't this case have been confiscated immediately after The Miz cashed in the "guaranteed contract" and placed into storage until next years MITB PPV? The anonymous Raw General Manager should send his "official" spokesman, Michael "And I Quote" Cole an E-mail demanding that Team Mize surrender the case.

Afterall, like I previously mentioned, we know the case will be used while the ref's back is conveniently turned. But since Riley is to be fired at the next episode of Raw, I guess all my questions and concerns are for nought now. We will stayed tuned in to the WWE and see further develops of this scenario.
