Hall of Fame Ceremony

dare2believe

Jim Ross opens the show dressed in a tuxedo alongside JBL who is dressed in a black suit with a black Stetson cowboy hat.

Jim Ross: "Welcome to the first Hall of Fame induction ceremony of DCW/GCW. Tonight we honor some of the greatest stars of all time as they take their rightful place in the DCW/GCW Hall of Fame!"

JBL: "That's right JR. Tonight the top 4 vote getters as voted on by the 4Down universe are being inducted. All of the superstars from both companies are here as well as many others from other companies. Matt Stryker is working the red carpet as some of the superstars are arriving."

Matt Stryker: "Stone Cold Steve Austin's truck just pulled into the parking lot and we should be seeing the DCW interim GM shortly. Speaking of the GM, he is walking up the red carpet as we speak. Stone Cold, what do you think about the Hall of Fame nominees tonight?"

Stone Cold: "They are all deserving. I'm looking forward to seeing the highlights and looking back over their illustrious careers. It's going to be a great night as long as the usher's keep the cold one rolling!"

Matt Stryker: "Let's go to the auditorium where the host of the program, Jerry Lawler, is standing by."

Jerry Lawler: "Tonight we four of the greatest superstars in modern history. Our first presenter is "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan!"

Hogan walks out on the stage to a standing ovation. Hogan is obviously subdued tonight and doesn't play to the crowd as he normally does.

Hogan: "Tonight I have the distinct honor of inducting possibly the greatest superstar of all time. He is no long with us here in this world, but he is in the great arena in the sky. Let's look at some of the highlights of this man's marvelous career.

The JumboTron lights up with a picture of "The Eighth Wonder of the World" Andre the Giant. An announcer begins to tell about Andre. "André Roussimoff was born in Grenoble France to parents of Bulgarian and Polish ancestry. As a child, he very early displayed symptoms of his gigantism, reaching a height of 6'3" and weight of 240 pounds by age 12.

At age 18, Roussimoff moved to Paris and was taught the art of professional wrestling by a local promoter who knew there would be money in Roussimoff's future.

He made his Japan debut in 1970, billed as "Monster Roussimoff", wrestling for the International Wrestling Enterprise. Roussimoff next moved to Montreal, Canada where he became an immediate success, regularly selling out the Montreal Forum. However, promoters eventually ran out of plausible opponents for him and, as the novelty of his size wore off, the gate receipts dwindled.

Vince McMahon Sr. was asked advice on how to portray Andre. McMahon suggested he be billed as Andre the Giant and the rest is history. On March 26, 1973, André debuted in the World Wide Wrestling Federation which is now the WWE. He defeated Buddy Wolfe in Madison Square Garden.

André was one of professional wrestling's most beloved "babyfaces" throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. However, by this time his health had already deteriorated and at Wrestlemania 3 he lost to Hulk Hogan before a sellout crowd at the Pontiac Silverdome.

André the Giant died in his sleep due to congestive heart failure on the night of January 27, 1993, in a Paris hotel room. At the time, he was in Paris to attend the funeral of his father.

Tonight Andre takes his rightful place in the DCW/GCW Hall of Fame.

As the camera comes back to Hogan, he is wiping a tear away. "Let's all give a moment of silence to our dear friend and Hall of Fame inductee, Andre the Giant!" The audience sits quietly for 15 seconds.

Hogan: "Thank you. Please welcome Andre's daughter,Robin Christensen Roussimoff to the stage." As Ms. Rousimoff walks to the podium she is greeted warmly by the crowd.

Hogan: "Robin would you take the honors of revealing the bust of your father that will be placed in the Hall of Fame?" Andre's daughter slowly pulls the cover from the bust and a beautiful bronze bust of her father is seen. The crowd stands to another ovation for Andre the Giant.

Jerry Lawler: "Thank you for that induction Hulkster and thank you Andre the Giant for all the wonderful memories you left us with."

A short commercial break and we are back for more inductions

Matt Stryker is on the red carpet as Dixie Carter arrives with her husband Serge. "Dixie, it's a pleasure to have you here tonight."

Dixie: "It's a pleasure for Serge and I to represent TNA at the DCW/GCW Hall of Fame inductions. We are pleased to be here in support of the wonderful superstars that have paved the way for our current stars."

Jerry Lawler: "Here to induct our next member into the DCW/GCW Hall of Fame is Arn Anderson." As "The Enforcer" makes his way out to the podium, he is greeted with 4 fingers by the crowd symbolizing the 4 Horsemen.

Arn Anderson: "This man needs no introduction. He is a 16 time World Champion and a double member of the WWE Hall of Fame but most of all he is my best friend, please welcome "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair!"

The fans chant, "wooooooo" as the former 16 time world champion makes his way to the podium.

Anderson: "Let's watch the JumboTron to see some of the highlights from Ric Flair's career."

An announcer begins, "Richard Morgan Fliehr was born February 25, 1949. Fliehr's family moved to Minnesota and it was there he was raised.

Under the tutelage of Josh Klemme[ and Billy Robinson, Flair attended Gagne's first Wrestling camp with Greg Gagne, Jim Brunzell, Iron Sheik, and Ken Patera at Gagne's barn outside of Minneapolis in the winter of 1971. In the beginning Flair was near 300 pounds and had short brown hair, a far cry from "The Nature Boy" image that made him famous.

In 1974, Flair left Gagne's AWA and went to Jim Crockett's Mid Atlantic Promotion and quickly began to win championships. On October 4, 1975, however, Flair's career nearly ended when he was in a serious plane crash in Wilmington North Carolina that took the life of the pilot and paralyzed Johnny Valentine (also on board were "Mr. Wrestling I" Tim Woods, Bob Bruggers, and promoter David Crockett). Flair broke his back in three places and, at age 26, was told by doctors that he would never wrestle again. Flair conducted a rigorous physical therapy schedule, however, and he returned to the ring just six months later. The crash did force Flair to change his wrestling technique away from the power brawling style he had used early on, which led him to adopt the "Nature Boy" style he would use throughout his career.

On September 17, 1981, Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes for his 1st World championship. History has shown that Flair went on to win World Titles in NWA, WCW, and WWE with a total of 16 World championships.

Ric Flair has been called "the dirtiest player in the game" and perhaps the best of all time, but tonight we call him Hall of Famer, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair!"

The cameras come back to Ric Flair and he begins his speech.

Flair: "I just want to thank all the fans, the superstars from the past 35 years and those present here today for all their support. Without you guys I would not be standing before you today. Thank you so much for this honor."

Anderson: "Ric, you have the honors of unveiling the bust." Flair pulls the cover and another bronze bust is shown, this time in Flair's image.

Anderson: "Let's give a hand to my friend and Hall of Famer, Ric Flair!"

The superstars in attendence rise with a standing ovation as the fans in attendence chant, "Thank you Ric, Thank you Ric, Thank you Rick!"

A short commercial break

Jerry Lawler: "Please welcome the next presenter at this time, "The Total Package" Lex Lugar!" Lugar is greeted with a hand of applause as he makes his way to the podium.

Lugar: "Thank for that welcome. God bless you all. Tonight we honor another icon of the wrestling industry. A man that has done about all you can do. He is a multi time world champion and my best friend, please welcome, STING!"

As Sting arrives at the podium, he and Lugar embrace. Lugar motions for the Stinger to take a bow as the JumboTron begins showing highlights of his illustrious career.

The announcer begins, "Steve Borden was born March 29, 1959.

Borden's career began in the Continental Wrestling Association under the ring name Flash and teamed with Jim "Justice" Hellwig who became famous for being The Ultimate Warrior. The teamed together as BladeRunners. Hellwig eventually left for the WWE and Flash renamed himself Sting and went with Bill Watts UWF which later was purchased by World Championship Wrestling.

Sting went on to become a multi time WCW world champion until the company was sold to the WWE. Sting did not move to the WWE but chose to sign with upstart TNA and has remained with them since they began.

Sting has been the TNA world champion four times and remains under contract to them at this time. DCW/GCW promotions are pleased to induct Sting into the Hall of Fame class of 2012.

Lugar and Sting unveil his bronze bust. Sting begins: "Thank you so much for this great honor. I want to thank God above for giving me the opportunity to live my dream and for bringing me from near tragedy to victory not only in the ring, but in life as well. I accept your induction with honor and I am proud to say I am now a member of the DCW/GCW Hall of Fame!"

commercial break

Jerry Lawler: "As we move along, let's welcome the next presenter, Mae Young!"

Mae Young: "Lets watch the JumboTron of the greatest women's wrester of all time."

An announcer begins, "Mary Lillian Ellison was born July 22, 1923 In Tookiedoo, Kershaw County South Carolina and grew up in Tookiedoo, twelve miles from Columbia. The youngest of thirteen children, Ellison was the only daughter of a part Cherokee father and an Irish mother.

Ellison began her wrestling career with Mildred Burke’s husband Billy Wolfe, the dominant women's promoter of the time. Her first match was on May 26, 1949 against June Byers at the Boston Arena.

On September 18, 1956, Moolah defeated Judy Grable in a thirteen-woman battle royal to win the vacant World Women's Championship, which shares a lineage with the NWA World Women's Championship. She was not immediately recognized by everyone as the NWA Champion because Billy Wolfe, with whom she had had conflict earlier in her career, still controlled the promotion. After the match, Vince McMahon, Sr. dubbed Ellison with a new ring name—The Fabulous Moolah.

Ellison died on November 2, 2007 at the age of 84. According to her daughter Mary, the possible cause of death was a heart attack or blood clot related to a recent shoulder replacement surgery. It is with honor that the DCW/GCW Hall of Fame proudly inducts the Fabulous Moolah!

Mae Young slowly pulls the cover from the bronze bust of Moolah that will be displayed in the Hall of Fame. The crowd rises to a standing ovation.

commercial break

Jerry Lawler: "And now for our final inductee into this years Hall of Fame class of 2012. Please welcome the next presenter, the WWE Intercontinental Champion, Christian!"

Christian: "Before we bring out the last inductee, let's look at the video of his career."

The announcer begins, "Adam Joseph Copeland was born October 30, 1973 in Orangeville, Ontario Canada to Judy Copeland, a single mother.

When he was eighteen, Copeland won an essay contest, with Sully's Gym offering free wrestling training to whoever could write a good essay, explaining why they would want to become a professional wrestler. As the result of his win, he was trained by Sweet Daddy Siki and Ron Hutchinson in Toronto.

Throughout the 1990s, Copeland wrestled on the independent circuitin Ontario and the Great Lakes region of the United States under the name Sexton Hardcastle. He became a part of the tag team Sex and Violence with Joe Legend. Also in the mid 1990's he wrestled for promoter Tony Condello in Winnipeg, Manitoba under the name Adam Impact. During 1997, Sex and Violence became part of a larger stable known as Thug Life, made up of Legend, Hardcastle, Christian Cage (Copeland's childhood friend Jason Reso), Zakk Wyld, Bill Skullion, and Rhino Richards During his independent career, he won the ICW/MWCW Midwest Unified Tag Title holder alongside Joe.

The duo of Hardcastle and Cage were known as Hard Impact before changing their name to The Suicide Blondes. They also worked in Japan under the name the Canadian Rockers. Copeland also wrestled briefly as Damon Striker against Kevin Sullivan and Meng on separate episodes of WCW Pro.

Copeland received a developmental deal with the WWE in 1997. Upon completing training, Copeland made his WWF television debut on the June 22, 1998 episode of Raw is War as Edge, a loner character who entered the arena through the crowd for his matches.

Edge is a multi time WWE champion among other titles. He was a member of the WWE's Hall of Fame class of 2012 this year at Wrestlemania. The DCW/GCW proudly welcomes "the Rated R Superstar" Edge into this years Hall of Fame class!

Christian: "Everyone, give it up for The Rated R Superstar: Edge!!!"

The auditorium erupts as Edge makes his way through the crowd much like he did when he began with the WWE many years ago. He receives a standing ovation. As he joins Christian on the stage, the two friends embrace.

Edge removes the cover and we see his likeness in a bronze bust that will be proudly displayed in the Hall of Fame.

Edge: "Thank you. I really appreciate this great honor. I want to thank my mom first of all for her support all these years. Without her, I would not be the man I am today. I want to thank my brother, Christian who has helped me and encouraged me throughout all the years as we traveled the roads together. Lastly, I want to thank all the fans that have supported me, cheered me and even booed me through the years. Without you, none of us would be here today. Thank you!"

Jerry Lawler: "Wow, that's about it for this years Hall of Fame ceremony. We want to thank the fans for their support as we gear of for WrestleFest 2012 in just a few days."

JR: "Goodnight everyone, don't forget that WrestleFest 2012 will be on The Pro Wrestling Network later this week. You are in for a big show!"

With that the Hall of Fame ceremony ends the broadcast as highlights of the nights inductees continues to show as the DCW logo appears on the screen.
