Whammer's Week Episode 16- Over The Limit Over

Whammer1

Tonight will be done a little differently as Instead of the 4 WWE shows, I will be reviewing RAW, Smackdown and (TNA) Impact Wrestling. We'll start with RAW.

WWE RAW

Ever since R-Truth turned heel, he's been proving the Creative Team right for doing it, and tonight was no different as he held his own on the mic against John Cena abd Bret Hart. R-Truth got in the grill of Hart and the GM made a mouth watering main event of R-Truth and CM Punk against Rey Mysterio and John Cena, with Hart as special guest referee. The first match of the night saw the apparently unstoppable Kane and Big Show drop the titles to Otunga and McGillicutty of the Nexus. It looks as if the tag team division has been destroyed yet again.

Then we saw Ricardo Rodriguez drive a car into the leg of the Big Show, which although, shocking, doesn't seem to have led anywhere, unless we see Big Show vs ADR at Capitol Punishment. Despite an obvious loss to Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne got a pop from the crowd as he attacked Swagger after their match, overshadowing the win and helping neither. Michael Cole then apologized to Jerry Lawler, which was the only way to keep him on commentary. I wondered how WWE would keep The Miz in the main event, because he might never get there again, but I guess they didn't want to. Miz cam out and talked smack, which just made him look worse, and fired Alex Riley, who proceeded to beat him up. I'm glad this bromance is over and I'm glad that Riley's going out on his own, because he's a very talented performer.

Kharma came out to break up the 8 Diva tag match, which was good, but then she started to cry in the middle of the ring, which is because of her pregnancy. How bad is her timing? Kofi Kingston, in a costume created from a competition, managed to pick up a competitive victory over Drew McIntyre, and it looks as if Creative don't have any plans for either of them. Then to the advertised main event, which would have meant more if The Miz had been in instead of Punk. I was a bit dissapointed to see Mysterio pin Punk, as it means he'll probably get a title shot even though R-Truth deserves it more, but it was a good show of the talent that RAW now have in WWE's rejuvenation period, as I'm calling it.

TNA iMPACT Wrestling

TNA opened up with a match! AJ Styles and Daniels defeated Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer in a Street Fight after a Spike Piledriver, but despite it being an extreme match, there wasn't too much weapon usage and the match was too short. At least this might end the Bully Ray/Styles saga, which has gone on too long. We were then promised a new interview segment, Scorpion Sitdown, from Sting, which 'had my heart racing', but when Mr. Anderson came out in his Sting costume and berated Sting, I marked out. His guest was Disco Inferno, who didn't comply to Anderson's wishes and was beatdown, only for Sting to make the save, building up this world title match very well.

Jeff Jarrett managed to defeat Matt Morgan after Scott Steiner interfered, so their match at Slammiversary was built up, but this Angle/Jarrett has gone on for about 2 months too long. This will be their 5th match in a row. Velvet Sky then made herself look stupid as she does every week, calling out ODB, and getting beaten up. Seriously, if she's the only person stopping Greg Helms getting into TNA, fire her and bring in The Hurricane? Eric Bischoff told Beer Money that if Roode doesn't miraculously heal by Slammiversary, their tag titles will be stripped off them, which I hadn't even thougt about when I saw Roode get injured, but it might happen.

Then Mick Foley, Eric Bischoff and Hogan had a 15 minute segment which basically only said that Brian Kendrick would challenge Abyss for the X-Division title and that an Ultimate X match would happen in July, which does sound good. Mickie James managed to defend her title against Winter, and was attacked by ANgelina Love after the math. Why didn't Love just attack James in the match and help Winter win the Knockouts title? Abyss then pulled out the obvious title defense against Kendrick, with nobody coming out to help Brian, despite all being in the same boat. Hopefully, Kazarian and Abyss can save the X-Division with a nice title match at some point.

Eric oung fooled Gunner by playing possum to win the Television champion, to go with his 'World' title, showing that the Television title is a waste of time. However, EricYoung's segments are the best on TNA, bar none. Our main event was Kurt Angle vs RVD, and although it was a little dissapointing, it was still the match of the night, Angle pulling out the win after an Angle Slam, leaving RVD in a rut at the minute, but leaving Angle as the best wrestler in TNA.

WWE Smackdown

We started off with Teddy Long making the obvious decision and making Sheamus vs Mark Henry vs Christian, winner to face Orton next week for the World title, and it was interesting to hear boos for Christian, as nobody wanted to see Orton/Christian for a third time. The first match of the night saw Sin Cara defeat Chavo Guerrero again, showing that Cara is a creative team favourite, but leaving Guerrero as a glorified jobber. Daniel Bryan managed to defeat Cody Rhodes by submission, but was paper bagged after the match, overshadowing his win and so improving neither man's image, which is a cardinal sin when you have two young prospects like Rhodes and Bryan.

Ezekiel Jackson showed The Corre that he still has plans for the Intercontinental title when he took out all three of them after his DQ win over Heath Slater, and although he won't become champion, Zeke will have a bright future in the WWE if he stays injury free. Kane managed to defeate Great Khali with a Flying Clothesline, (How powerful is that move) and following the match, Khali put the Vice Grip on Ranjin Singh, leaving with Jinder Mahal, who looks to be his manager now. I predict a few months of domination for Khali under the much meaner Mahal, who might also wrestle as well as manage.

Booker T then poked fun at Michael Cole, although it would have been a better segment if he turned heel and started to berate the audience for cheering Lawler at Over The Limit. Alicia Fox and Tamina, who I thought was a face defeated Kaitlyn and AJ, who shouldn't be here as she didn't win NXT, who were managed by Natalya? Wrong ending and no consitency or sense in the Diva's division. I think its safe to say that Layla and Michelle McCool were the talent on Smackdown. Sheamus managed to defeat Mark Henry and Christian in the main event, after Orton RKO'ed Henry, distracting Christian, who was hit with the Brogue Kick. This sets up Sheamus and Orton next week, and with their history, it should be a good match, but I think Henry and Christian will interfere, leading to all 4 of them in a match at Capitol Punishment.

WWE seems to have trouble figuring out who to push on the midcard. Swagger beats Bourne, but Bourne attacks him and exits to a pop. McIntyre dominates Kofi, but Kofi squeaks out a win. Bryan beats Rhodes, but ends up laid out with a bag on his face. Anyone else think they don't want to push any of these guys and are just wasting our time?
