As always, the WWE had a good week, with little blips in booking, but made up for it with some good matches and promos. Let's review the evidence.
WWE RAW
This week was no different for R-Truth, as he continued to show the world how good of a heel he really is, trashing the audience for wearing John Cena merchandise. The RAW GM then gave us the match we've wanted to see for quite a while, R-Truth vs John Cena. I really hoped that Truth won and got the World title shot he's been wanting for so long. The first match of the night was a sound match between Dolph Ziggler and Kofi Kingston, which Ziggler won clean to earn himself a US title shot, which could give both men a push they both really need. Alberto Del Rio then berated Big Show for damaging his car, which although getting him heat, ended the story and left ADR in a bit of a rut on RAW, where he should never have been drafted to.
Eve and Kelly Kelly defeated the Bella Twins, which will get K2 another undeserved title shot, which I hope she loses, as I don't really think she deserves a spot on the roster. Michael Cole then berated Alex Riley over his actions last week, only to be attacked by him, saved by The Miz, and forced to watch A-Ri beat up Miz again, which is making The Miz look bad. It's safe to say that Miz's time at the top is now over for good, while Riley has a future ahead of him, but only if he beats Miz at Capitol Punishment if they face each other, and then leaves for Smackdown and turns heel again.CM Punk showed the world that he's still an Upper Midcarder at least, when he defeated Rey Mysterio, which will gain him some of the fan heat which has been lacking recently.
Kharma then revealed she was pregnant, and was taunted by the Bella Twins, but when Kharma comes back, she'll take them out, and I can't wait for that. Evan Bourne managed an upset victory over Jack Swagger, which I hope will be the start of a push for Evan, but I think it'll just be a place in the RAW MITB match. R-Truth managed to beat John Cena by count-out, which is abyssmally Cena's first loss since WrestleMania, solidyfing his breakaway from the Midcard. R-Truth then splashed some water at the fan he had berated at the start of the show and so as RAW went off the air, the RAW GM told R-Truth that he would get his title shot at CP if he apologizes for that next week, which I hope he does.
TNA Impact Wrestling
The show started in traditional TNA styles, with ODB beating up Velvet Sky, who continued to show why she's a waste of space on the TNA roster. Mr. Anderson then promised to have a match with one of Sting's storied opponents, which promised much as finally the World title match at Slammiversary was going to be built up with a macth and not just talk. Alex Shelley told Eric Bischoff that as Chris Sabin's injured for 8 months, he can't go for the tag titles and so asked, ad was accepted, to replace the injured Robert Roode in the tag team title match at Slammiversary. It'll be good to see how Shelley does in a tag match without Sabin, and see if he can do it on his own. 20 minutes into the show, and we had our first match, which was Crimson continuing his winnig streak by defeating Matt Hardy, and then staving off the attack of his Slammiversary opponent, Samoa Joe. TNA sure are building up Crimson for the future.
Angelina Love continued to gain fan heat as she defeated Miss Tessmacher and attacked her after the match, but I don't think Mickie James will drop the Knockouts title this early in her reign. Eric Young dressed up as The Great Muta, to take on Mr. Anderson, and actually managed to pick up the victory, despite the interference of Gunner. Sting then ran down to save Young and next week, we'll see Gunner and Anderson against Sting and Eric Young, which I pray to god, will see Gunner and Aderson winning to save their damaged reputations. Brian Kendrick and Kazarian put on the match of the week in my eyes, only to be ruined by Abyss, who attacked both men. Hopefully, we'll see all 3 of these men at Slammiversary, but Abyss will retain his X-Division title, whoever he faces. AJ Styles and Bully Ray had a confrontation which wasn't violent, surprising everyone, but at Slammiversary, they'll face off in a Last Man Standing match, which will probably be match of the night.
In the main event, Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett defeated Matt Morgan and Kurt Angle, which was a good piece of booking as the worse team won cleanly. However, to ruin that, the win was overshadowed by Karen Angle inadvertantly being pushed down the stair, which will hopefully take her out of Slammiversary. But to end the show, Hogan and Boschoff came out and revealed that Mick Foley had been fired by The Network, which makes no sense as he's only made 2 appearances on TNA since being revealed as the Network rep, but it was still a nice shocker to end the show.
WWE Smackdown
Christian managed to keep himself in the Upper Midcard by defeating Mark Henry, who really needs a win to stay over, and followed it up by asking for another World title shot. However, Teddy Long only made Christian the special ref for the World title match between Sheamus and Orton, which gave the result away really. Tamina and Alicia Fox, who were pointlessly accompanied to the ring by Rosa Mendes, managed to defeat AJ and Kaitlyn one more time, continuing the curse of the NXT Rookies. Cody Rhodes then denied losing to Daniel Bryan last week and berated the high-flyer, which might possibly lead to a good feud that can push both men out of the Midcard.
Jinder Mahal defeated Yoshi Tatsu in his debut, and with The Great Khali by his side, I predict a title shot very soon, as he's got the look, the talent and the overness to do well in the WWE. Wade Barrett got himself counted out against Ezekiel Jackson in their IC title match, so their next match will be an Extreme match of some kind, but I think that Slater and Gabriel will split from The Corre next week as Barrett left them to be attacked by Jackson. Daniel Bryan continued his winning streak as he defeated Ted DiBiase, who's turning into Cody Rhodes's lackey, but was attacked by both men, saved by Sin Cara, which will lead to Cara and Bryan against Legacy next week. We then saw a promo from Johnny Curtis, who's come to Smackdown, ad explaned that he won't get his Tag Team title shot, rendering NXT useless, but at least he's got into the WWE at last.
The Main Event was a good match, with both Orton and Sheamus showing their class, taking the focus away from Christian, which was good. However, Christian scrwewed Sheamus out of the title by refusing to count to 3 after the Brogue Kick, instead punching Sheamus right into an RKO to help Orton retain the title. However, with Sheamus and Mrak Henry now out of the title picture, Christian is the only man left and turned heel after hitting Orton with the title belt. I don't think this heel turn is permanent, as he's still a very popular wrestler, but it will be nice to see if he can still play a heel.
That concludes this edition of Whammer's Week. My match of the week is Kazarian vs Brian Kendrick and my moment of the week is Christian's heel turn. See you next week.
