This week we learned who the participants in the Money in the Bank matches would be, plus, on the other side, we learned that some of the matches for TNA's all X-Division PPV, Destination X. Let's start with Monday Night RAW.
WWE RAW
We kicked off the show with a seemingly random appearance from Shawn Michaels, but CM Punk interrupted him and I'm guessing all the wrestling fans in the world now want a feud between HBK and Punk, but that will remain a pipe dream.Michaels then got rid of the Tag Team champions with Super Kicks, ensuring that Punk would face Kane one-on-one. However, Punk wisely got himself counted-out, maybe the loss that actually puts his image below Cena's at last, as WWE couldn't have Punk going into the PPV better than Cena, which he was beforehand. Sin Cara than defeated Evan Bourne in an incredible match, Cara's push continuing further, with Bourne not being disgraced at all by the result of this contest. Kofi Kingston earned the right to bar Vickie Guerrero from ringside for his match with Ziggler, which was the only way he could beat Dolph, and this was smart from the WWE. Kingston's already number 1 contender, but even when he loses to Dolph in the title match, he's still got one clean victory over Ziggler, so will have benefited slightly from this feud.
We then learned that the RAW MITB will be The Miz, Alex Riley, Alberto Del Rio, Rey Mysterio, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, and my early pick is either ADR or R-Truth. Mark Henry then ripped the door off the steel cage in ADR and Big Show's match and attacked Big Show, giving ADR another win and a continued push, while also hyping up the Show/Henry match which will probably happen at MITB. Kelly Kelly then faced Nikki Bella in a Submission match, which was actually better than I expected, with K2 picking up the win after a Boston Crab and Eve making the save after the Bellas attacked Kelly. Alex Riley's push also continued after him and Rey Mysterio defeated Jack Swagger and The Miz in a Tornado Tag match, and I can definitely see a big future for A-Ry, who continues to become more and more over each week. I wondered how R-Truth's main event status would be kept up, but I didn't think he'd beat Cena in a Tables match, but after help from CM Punk, he did. Then came the promo from Punk, which was a work, but has truth in it, and however much I don't want it to happen, Punk will be leaving on July 17th.
TNA Impact
We kick the show off by finding out that Scott Steiner has joined Immortal, before Hulk comes to the ring and offers Mr. Anderson the help of Immortal in his World title match in 2 weeks, which is declined. Sting then comes out and beats up Hogan for a little while, and I must say that I'm liking Sting's new Joker character, prompting the rest of Immortal to come out and make a match between Sting and Steiner, which is obviously going to be awful. The first match of the night is between Devon and Samoa Joe, who are yet to win in the Bound For Glory series and after a standing Uranage, Devon gets the biggest win of his TNA career so far and gets onto the leaderboard. An OK match. Don't understand the 'feud' Devon's having with The Pope, though. The X-Division tournament continues with Matt Bentley, Jimmy Yang, who's doing his awful Flying Elvis gimmick again, and Low Ki, who was my pick to win the tournament since I first heard about it.
The match is a good one, with plenty of high-flying action, and as expected, Low Ki gets the win and now tha his 90 day no-compete clause is over, he'll win the tournament and rejoin TNA, who'll use him like he should be used, I'm sure. Samoa Joe beats up Kazarian in a bar fight, which makes Kazarian look pretty stupid to have even accepted the fight in the first place, but is at least building up their match for Destination X. Mickie James, Tara and Miss Tessmacher then defeat Angelina Love, Winter and Madison Rayne in an Elimination Tag match, with Mickie as the only survivor. Unfortunately, that win's just wiped out every possible challenger for her title, so it'll be interesting to see where they'll go with the Knockouts title. Gunner gives a promo about AJ Styles, building up their rubber match in the BFG series, which will obviously result in a win for Gunner.
Daniels and AJ Styles have a contract signing for their Destination X match, which is interrupted by Jerry Lynn. RVD then comes out and challenges Lynn to a match, which is accepted, but next week, we'll see the best match in the last 6 months, as Daniels, AJ, RVD and Lynn face each other in a Fatal 4 Way match. Gunner then picked up the obvious victory to go above Crimson in the BFG series with 21 points to Crimson's 17, having had one match more, though. We then learn that Velvet Sky will face ODB and Jackie next week and Robert Roode will face Crimson in the BFG series, before Mexican America give another pointless promo, saved only by a face turn from The British Invasion. Scott Steiner dominates Sting, but Sting picks up the obvious victory and that's the end of the show, with nothing really of note happening in the World title picture.
WWE Smackdown
Smackdown started off with a match between Randy Orton and Mark Henry, which is surely too good to start off the night, where if Henry won, he'd get the title shot at MITB. However, Orton won by count-out after Big Show's music played and distracted Henry and Henry attacked a technician, keeping up with the monster gimmick. Daniel Bryan then continued to crush Ted DiBiase's career by beating him again, leaving DiBiase as just a minion to Cody Rhodes, which isn't right. Ranjin Singh finally explained the Jinder Mahal situation by revealing that Mahal is their brother-in-law, but to be honest, I don't think anyone really cares about the story. Christian was forced to face Sin Cara, which seems like a dream match, but was a little hokey. However, it was still a good match and in the end, Christian picked up the win after the Spear, his new main finisher, finally ending Cara's undefeated streak, while also giving Christian a much-needed clean victory that keeps him in the main event position. Cara won't be too hurt by this, and will probably get an Intercontinental title shot at some point soon.
Cody Rhodes then beat Ezekiel Jackson to earn himself an Intercontinental title shot ith help from Ted DiBiase, who's redeemed himself to Rhodes, who should have had this title shot months ago when he defeated Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania. Kane then continued his hot streak and defeated Wade Barrett, who's slowly being killed by the WWE, leaving Kane as one of two men that could win the Smackdown MITB with the other being Sheamus. I don't think Barrett, Gabriel, Slater, Rhodes, Bryan or Cara are good enough to win the MITB just yet. However, Sheamus might not be in the MITB match, instead he might be in the World title match after he ruined the contract signing by ripping up the contract and attacking both Christian and Orton, leaving the end to Smackdown a confusing one. At MITB, I think that Christian will defeat Orton, only for Sheamus to cash in the MITB contract which he won earlier in the night and yet again ruin Christian's title reign before it really starts.
Anyway, that's enough from me, and I leave you with my match of the week as Sin Cara vs Evan Bourne and my moment of the week being CM Punk's promo.

~ I don't think Barrett, Gabriel, Slater, Rhodes, Bryan or Cara are good enough to win the MITB just yet. ~ May I remind you 2 of the last 3 winners would have been considered in this category. Jack Swagger WM 25 and The Miz RAW MITB 2010. For the record I'm picking Barrett to win. Posted on July 3, 2011 at 10:48 AM Season 14 Overall Rank: #164 (Rank in League: #1) |

I don't know. Swagger was a former ECW champ and was undefeated in ECW, while The Miz was the US champ at the time, so both men were tried as champions. Posted on July 3, 2011 at 3:08 PM Season 14 Overall Rank: #90 (Rank in League: #5) |
