"MONDAY NIGHT WAR" ON 1/4/2010 BETWEEN WWE & TNA

This could get real ugly, with the NFL winding down its regular season, with no MNF. WWE hopes to garner high 3's in the TV ratings with Bret "The Hitman" Hart guest-hosting, while TNA & Spike TV goes live with Impact in Orlando, featuring Hulk Hogan's appearance on TV. With TNA going full steam in their "new era", and WWE starting their build-up for their 2010 Royal Rumble, this could be a very interesting night for wrestling fans. Question is, at this point, who will win?


NEW WWE SPEARHEAD?

IMO, it may be time for Mr. McMahon to choose a new spearhead for the company. Cena has been the spearhead for quite some time, and with all the divided sentiment that he has, and that he seems to have little or no real respect in the locker room--since noone wants to watch his back, maybe it's time for someone new to take the reins. Someone like Randy Orton, or Sheamus O'Shaunessey. Cena has led the way long enough, and someone young and ready to lead WWE is, more or less, needed to compete against the growing challenge from TNA.

I don't know about you guys, but I believe that Sheamus made history in the WWE at the TLC ppv. Not only does he becomes one of the wrestlers to win the WWE Championship in only a matter of months in the big league, but more or less the first former FCW Champion & product to win the WWE Championship.

So Cena-haters, & older WWE fans rejoice! Sheamus O'Shaunessy is the new WWE Champion! Congratulations to The Celtic Warrior! A pint of Guiness for the new champ.

Is it just me, or did the WWE Universe and all other pro wrestling fans got another jolt of "Dean Douglas"? Yeah, the man that was Intercontinental Champion for 30 mins before getting floored for it by Scott Hall & his Razor Ramon persona. Flash forward to October 2009, where Jillian Hall used underhanded tactics to beat Mickie James to become the 4th Divas Champion, only to lose it minutes later when Melina, Raw's biggest acquisition in the Divas trade, comes out and floors Jillian with the Last Call to become the 5th Divas Champion.

Couldn't they have let Jillian hold the belt for at least a few weeks, then have Melina, Gail Kim, or Kelly Kelly win it at Bragging Rights?

Is it just me or do I feel that TNA's Bound For Glory PPV will be tons better than both WWE PPV's for October--Hell in a Cell & Bragging Rights--combined? First off, look at the outcome from HiaC. Most of them were pretty obvious, but why does "Super Cena" look dejected instead of selling the fact that he got his head knocked the crap out by Orton after that Punt? This is stupid--I hope Orton beats Cena into a PG-rated "bloody pulp" at Bragging Rights so that the fans can enjoy the winter without him? Speaking of Bragging Rights, I don't have alot of confidence that this replacement for Cyber Sunday will be anything better. C'mon, Vince, I enjoyed the idea of voting for certain parts of PPV matches. Not only do you force your WWE Superstars to wrestle a PPV-caliber match, but then you have the winners come back in a SmackDown v. Raw match for Bragging Rights later that night? That will backfire and serve to dilute your 3rd or 4th best PPV, Survivor Series.

Now, look at the matches scheduled for TNA's version of Wrestlemania, Bound for Glory. Styles v. Sting--instant classic.....an Ultimate-X match featuring Suicide & Daniels--sweetness.....Four of the best tag teams in the world today to climb ladders for the TNA & IWGP Tag Team Belts--that will be fun to watch....Abyss v. Foley in a Monster's Ball match--those guys will give something none of the WWE Superstars could do in Hell in a Cell...bleeding moments.....Samoa Joe & Lashley in a submission match.....Angle v. Matt Morgan.....Nash, Young, & Hernandez to clash for the Legends belt....Sarita & Taylor Wilde clash with TBP.....add the likelihood that we could see ODB, Tara, & Kong collide for the Knockouts singles belt, and this card is going to be frickin awesome!

The way I see it, people, Bound for Glory is going to embarass the content in both Hell in a Cell & Bragging Rights...combined!

Oohhh boy...

Word on WWE.com is that Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio violated the company's wellness policy, and is suspended for 30 days. Therefore, not only does this put him out of action until around the Sept. 29th SmackDown taping, it also puts his title reign in limbo.

The way I see it, it looks like we may see a match at the Breaking Point PPV for what will likely be a "vacant" Intercontinental Championship, if that happens. Most likely, WWE will pull an angle that SL's Rey vacating the title, and Dolph & a few others can then vie for the belt at the next PPV.

(UPDATE) Some insider sites say that he'll serve his 30-day suspension after next week's SmackDown tapings in Cleveland, so it looks like he'll drop the belt to Dolph Ziggler, and then serve the suspension. Fitting enough, IMO, since Dolph has been impressive in the last 2 title matches, and probably would've won it at Breaking Point or at a future SD show, anyway.

(UPDATE #2) Now there's word that the brass in Stamford, CT is not pleased with Rey's weekend interview with a Mexican newspaper about him violating the wellness policy. The fans at this Tuesday's SD taping in Cleveland could now be seeing more than just him dropping the IC belt to Dolph Ziggler. They may script out something more humiliating to Rey. He could even get the infamous "Yyyoouurrreee fiiirrreeed!" saying from Vince. Either way, this is a total kick in the guts for their Latino market & fanbase, no mattter how you look at it.

Based on the results of SummerSlam, there seems to be some possibilities for Breaking Point next month in Montreal. Remember the major matches are likely to be submissions only:

WWE Championship: Randy Orton (c) v. John Cena / Triple H / Shawn Michaels / MVP
(likely Cena again, but MVP would be most preferable so that we could see both men work on submission finishers between now and this PPV)

World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (c) v. The Undertaker / Matt Hardy / John Morrison
(most likely Taker to put Punk "through Hell's Gate", but John Morrison would work too)

ECW Championship: Christian (c) v. William Regal
(Regal to win this time, as he already has a proven submission finisher)

DX v. Legacy #2

Unified Tag Team Championship: "Jerishow" (c) v. The Hart Dynasty
(simply because it's Canada)

Outside possibility: Undertaker v. Kane
