I am starting a monthly review of different wrestling books, I own well over 100 so I will have enough to go on with for a little while, my first is Eric Bischoffs book Controversy Creates Cash.

This book starts with Eric being backstage about to appear on RAW as its general manager, it discuss the secrecy that occured to make this happen. It then gives us a bit of backround on Eric growing up and family life. It moves on through Erics time at Vince Garnes organisation and getting a job a WCW as a third string announcer, then Erics amazing rise up the ranks until he is running the whole show. The NWO is covered in great detail and then the fall of WCW.

The book is quite good but I feel that Bischoff does not accept any responsibility for the downfall of the company, just takes the credit for the good bits. Obviously the WCW was scrapped by its parent company which he had no control over, but if it had not been in such a downward spiral and was still making money, then maybe it would still be here today! It is interested to hear what changes he made to company and which of those changes the WWF started using, whatever you think of Bischoff he is a very important figure in the history of professional wrestling and this book does mention the good things he has done.

Overall I would give this book a 7/10 rating.

RAWS guest host are they a good idea or not, im unsure as some of them have been great and some have been just awful! Some unintential moments of comedy have occured Summerfest anyone and Cowboy Bob Thornton, classic moments! But then people like ZZ Top, Jeremy Piven and the annoying little one, were terrible. I think the main problem with the concept is that there is no continuing feud going on with the GM, ala Vickie and the Undertaker or William Regal and him turning the lights of and stopping matches, generating real heat for there persona! each week starts afresh and one of the main reasons of the GM was to hold together the storylines. On the plus side they can choose whether the GM is heel or face for the night depending on the storyline. So I am still unsure, Its works with good guests, but is really bad with the bad ones, and I think that soon it will have run its course and we will return to normal, although the amount of free advertising Vince is getting from this idea, might cause it to drag on and on and on! what does anyone else think?

Apparently the police raided Jeffs house today and found about $2500 dollars of various drugs mainly painkillers some steriods and a trace of cocaine. Matt supposedly paid the $125,000 bail for him and he is now back at home. The WWE must be happy that it happened when he was not working for the company, as it is obviously very bad publicity for the company. If he had been working for the WWE it would have been an automatic firing for him as a third violation of the wellness policy. The WWE however now are able to rehire him in the future although I would think not for a year or so at least, as the violation was not while he was working for the company! This is obviously bad news and Jeff was not speaking the truth when he talked about being clean, unless the drugs were not his, hmmm doubtful!!!

Is Reys suspension a work? The only reason I ask is that this suspension is on the home page of WWE.COM an unparelled event, they normally squirrel away any bad news in the deepest depths of it website! I am wondering if Rey is going to be the new Jeff Hardy for CM Punk to rant about, with Jeff gone CM Punk needs a new drug cheat to rant about in his straight edge way! He is obviously going to start a program with the Undertaker, but he is untouchable with such jibes. To continue his heel push he need someone new to take to task about a bad lifestyle and who better or more unlikely that Rey the family favourite?

To me this means only one thing, run ins and lots of them, thus setting up return matches at the next ppv held in a cage to prevent them. Legacy running against cena well that would not be a surprise would it! I hope I am wrong as run ins are one of the lazised forms of booking if not handled properly and I doubt somehow the WWE writing commitee could deal with lots of them! Does anyone else agree or can they see some other reason for this booking of PPVS?

The next wwe ppv Breaking Point is based around submission matches. These matches can be good if the wrestlers in them are famed for their submission moves, ie Kurt Angle. However most wrestlers dont use a submission as their finisher and are not used to such matches, so what is the point of creating a ppv based around them? It seems to me that the WWE has gone theme mad and is trying to give all their ppvs a particular theme, this is fine if it it the Royal Rumble, Survivor Series etc, but submission moves give me a break, they are also planning one with all the matches in a cage ala TNA's Lockdown, this just strikes of overkill and reduces the impact of the main event. A varied set of matches is best for a ppv because it causes the viewer to look forward to the next different match and could create new viewers if they wish to see a particular match!

Managers seem to have fell out of favour at the WWE at the moment. Yes we have Singh with Khali and Natalia with the Hart Dynasty, but what about the old school managers with excellent mic skills? These managers used to assist up and coming wrestlers who had good in ring skills but needed to work on their vocals. The last manager of this nature with Estrada with Umaga, he brought a great deal of depth to the profile of Umaga. I am not talking about a return to the seventies/early eighties where nearly all wrestlers were managed but In special cases to help build and improve a wrestler. The reason I bring this subject up is John Morrison. Morrison in the ring has it all, Looks, a good size and incredible in ring skills, what he lack is mic skills, they are awful, now with a mouthpiece until his stick skills improve he could still achieve everything the WWE want from him and not look lacking. Other wrestlers in the future could also really improve from this idea, what does everyone else think? They are obviously aware of the lacking of vocal skills from some of their wrestlers as its seems that on ECW, Regal has become the mouthpiece of Koslov and Jackson, but he is a wrestler also, imagine if those two had a top quality manager to hype them up, alright it will not improve there in ring skills greatly but could make them more realistic challengers than they are now.

Last weeks RAW when Mr Piven mentioned Summerfest, the whole of the WWE audience all looked at each other and said, did he really just say that. Yes, Yes he did, but is it the worst mistake ever, it certainly up there. Adamle's, Jeff Harvey has to be close, but what others were there, what was the worst mic mistake ever?

The WWE has released Brian 'Spanky' Kendrick today, the reason surrounding this are not known, but obviously the end was in sight, when they had him fight Jerry Lawler and lose to Kofi in seconds. Its a shame because Kendrick was a really good wrestler, but with no cruiserweight division in the WWE anymore, wrestlers of a smaller stature are always going to struggle. I think he could have done well as Chris Jerichos partner instead of the Big Show as he has great experience in the tag team division, as part of the team with Paul London. Bye Bye TBK see you in TNA in the near future!

The WWE used to have a good range of heels to battle with the babyfaces, now they have two legimate ones Orton and Jericho with Edge being out and probably going to turn face on his return. These two, Orton especially are probably two of the greatest heels in recent memory but what about the rest? Yes CM Punk is being pushed as a heel, but there seems to be little crowd reaction to him so far, although he is a good wrestler, the crowds often seem indifferent towards him. If he can not create heat, fueding with the crowd favourite Jeff Hardy then when will he? Kozlov was a flop, Swaggers too young although he does create some heat along with The Miz. I think the main problem is that they have turned too many heels to faces and not created believible heels in return. This inbalance will be hard to turn round, as not many wrestlers at the moment have the ability to put in a good enough performance to make to the change, and new superstars take a while to become established. I am not sure who could switch to balance things up, does anyone have any ideas????
